Spied a lovely Tomtit on the Korokoro dam loop walk this morning. Thanks to the great pest control going on. This isn’t the actual bird, they are very good at hiding and quick movement. I can’t spot it in the bush photo

Great day at the Korokoro Stream looking at the fish in the awa, with the help of GWRC and Enviroschool folks. We saw up close inanga, blue gilled and red finned bullies toitoi and titikura and a lovely tuna. We learned about what they eat and what eats them. And we learned about the plans for a rock passage A great learning experience for little kids and big kids. Thanks to the organisers

Over the weekend we facilitated the August pest monitor in the valley, which involves placing inked cards along set lines, collecting them the next day to see what critters have run through the ink and left their mark. The weather was fine and only mud on the legs and sore feet for some of the volunteers. Love this valley and the people who care for the fauna and flora. Ngā mihi
