Another Tuesday, another shopping trip to Woolworths Mornington with our lovely clients. It was quieter in the supermarket today so we were able to complete the shopping with ease - no bumping of trolleys, no queues. Whoever returns back to the van first has time for a good old chat with Neil our driver, or the next client to return. There's never a hurry, so clients are able to take as long as they like, wander around, check out new products......

Jenny went out shopping with our clients yesterday and sent me this photo. B and A standing outside the bus with A modelling the most stunning jersey that B made for her. Friendship, conversation, laughter and joy are all the pluses on offer when clients come shopping with Plus Bus.

I've missed my Tuesday Plus Bus shopping trips for the last fortnight as I've had a cold which has overstayed its welcome. Our clients are too precious to be exposed to any illness so I've been thinking of them from afar. The shopping trips have continued with Mary volunteering in my place. I do miss my 'ladies and gents'. There is never a dull moment on the bus, in the supermarket, at the chemist. Where ever our clients are there is always a funny story to relate or remember. And if we have to stop in the middle of Woolworths aisle to retell it, then that's just fine. So some pictures today from other expeditions.

We had 6 passengers on board the bus this morning as we headed to Mornington Woolworths for our weekly shop. I enjoyed assisting a client to and from the Post Office and then on with the shopping.
The topics we cover are varied and many as we travel on the bus. Today K had a tale to share with us. When she used to listen to a serial on the radio if it came to an exciting stage she found herself knitting faster as the tension grew. But she found when watching TV if something dramatic was happening she would put her knitting down! Have you a knitting tale to share with us?

Another shopping day for me as one of our clients was feeling a little tired after several recent outings. We called in home, gathered her shopping list, bags and money and I cruised the aisles in her place. I was coming down one aisle and saw B trying to reach a product so I scooped the product off the shelf and into her trolley. NOT NECESSARY! She had already asked a young guy to help her. When I apologised afterwards she said she hadn't realised he was goodlooking, it was his height!!! And THAT I don't believe, her eyesight is VERY sharp.
Carrying over from last week, yes B finished knitting the jersey for A, it looks terrific. I love the kindnesses on the bus. And off the bus. Neil, our driver, checked out a problem with my car at the end of our morning and I drove away feeling a lot happier with its condition.

With one of our regular passengers feeling a little under the weather this morning we called in to collect her shopping list and money. As I was a 'real shopper' today I forgot about getting some 'action shots' until we were on the homeward run. After we dropped groceries and change back to our lovely K, I figured I could ask N and B to pose for a 'dropping off' shot. Don't panic! I gathered B's shopping after taking the photo and carried it all inside for her. We do enjoy our Tuesday shopping get togethers.

Tuesdays seem to roll around more quickly than the other days of the week. Just as well it's a day we look forward to! Five passengers on our grocery shopping expedition today. And some days it does feel like an expedition with roadworks, temporary traffic lights, and cones galore. Our driver is a calm capable bloke so detours never hassle him.
Shopping went smoothly today. Once trolleys and bags were unloaded into the van bins and everyone was aboard, B gave me a measuring tape. Could I measure the length of A's arm? B is knitting a winter jersey for A. And, if it's anything like last year - the jersey will be finished within a fortnight. Last year B presented it to A on the bus. A promptly got off, tried it on and did the most amazing pirouette showcasing the cardigan from every side in Woolworth's carpark. I tell you this is not just any old shopping trip - we have fun, vent frustrations, laugh and genuinely care for each other.

Six clients on the bus today. Once we got to Mornington Woolworths we all dispersed. Some to the fruit'n vege, others to the baked goods........ plus one client and I went to the Post Shop. There's never any hurry. First clients back to the van just sit and chat until we add up to six passengers ready to go.

Every client is allocated a numbered box and all their groceries are safely stored in their box. Once we arrive at a client's house the driver unpacks the shopping bags from the box, the assistant carries them up to the house and can leave them on the kitchen bench if that's fine with the client. No fuss, no worries, no bother.
