Stoked to have helped make your life more RAD Lauchlan ♻ 🚲 💚

When Lauchlan was experiencing challenges getting to school, we explored different ways to support him. He decided that having his own bike would give him the independence and confidence to travel to school on his own. Thanks to the generosity of Dave, Jess, and the wonderful team at RAD Bikes in Ōtautahi | Christchurch, that goal became a reality.

Today, Lauchlan proudly rides his bike to school each day. What started as a practical solution has become so much more, improving his attendance, increasing his independence, and giving him greater confidence to navigate his community.

RAD Bikes is a volunteer-led community organisation that refurbishes donated bikes and makes them available at affordable prices. They have bikes ready to ride, as well as bikes that people can repair alongside their volunteers. Young people and Community Services Card holders receive discounts, with flexible payment options available through Buycycles for those who need extra support. They also offer affordable bike repair sessions and welcome donations to help keep this valuable service rolling.

This story is a wonderful reminder that when barriers are removed and the right support is available, people can thrive.
