Thank You, Takapuna Community!

On Monday, members of Soroptimist International North Shore collected our Library display from Takapuna Library, along with an incredible 58 donated bras!

These photos show just 40 of the donations received, each one representing kindness, generosity, and support for women in need. For many women, having access to a well-fitting bra is something often taken for granted, yet it can make a significant difference to comfort, confidence, dignity, health, and the ability to participate fully in everyday life, work, and community activities.

Every donated bra will now be carefully sorted, washed, sized, and prepared for distribution to women who will truly benefit from them, helping to give these items a second life while also reducing textile waste.

For Soroptimist International North Shore, this project is about women supporting women, practical sustainability, and creating positive change in our community and beyond.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, supported the display, and helped spread awareness of Project Uplift. Your generosity will make a real difference.

Soroptimist International has issued a statement expressing deep concern about the escalating financial crisis affecting the UN human rights system — and the impact this is having on the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

Our statement highlights how reduced meeting time, cancelled reviews, and limited capacity to examine complaints weaken accountability for women’s rights — at a time when challenges to gender equality are intensifying.

We are calling for urgent action, including full and timely payment of assessed contributions, strengthened funding for human rights, protection of CEDAW’s operational capacity, and transparent, accountable budget decisions.
