What’s up this week 😊

What a privilege to attend Race Relations Day 2026 Ministry for Ethnic Communities Ministry of Justice NZ Te Kāhui Tika Tangata Human Rights Commission in Wellington, then head back up for a funding session in Ōtāhuhu with our very own Stephanie, hosted by CLM Community Sport.

Eid al-Fitr celebrations with NZ Ethnic Women's Trust in Three Kings is always something I look forward to every year after Ramadan 🌙

Puketāpapa Day at Wesley & RYZ Centre was, as always, way too much fun — so hard to leave!

Wrapped up the week with Nepalese Experience at Birkenhead Primary hosted by , and then at Mt Roskill War Memorial Park.

World of Cultures — you’ve done it again ✨

Lots of community, culture, and catching up with good people — feeling very full (in every sense 😄)

What’s up this week…

Thank you for inviting us to your Iftar 🤍

It was lovely to see such diverse cultures coming together in one room — celebrating, sharing, and learning from one another.

Moments like this not only bring people together, but also help educate and strengthen our wider community.

Grateful to be part of it.

What’s up this week…

Celebrating the diverse Lunar New Year at Parliament 🎉

A great opportunity to experience how Lunar New Year is celebrated across different parts of Asia — all in one place here in Wellington.

Also a wonderful chance to catch up with our community partners, reconnect with friends, and strengthen relationships from across Aotearoa.

Always grateful for these moments that bring us together. 🤍

What’s up this week…

Thank you for inviting us to the Community Safety Meeting – Mt Albert.

It was great to be in a space where people openly shared their concerns and ideas, all with the same goal — making the area a safer place for our communities and for local businesses.

These conversations matter, and so does the ongoing work behind them.

Thank you to everyone involved for your commitment and hard mahi. 👏

What’s up in the week…

Economic contribution of ethnic minority communities to Auckland 2001–2023

A room full of community advocates —
everyone leaning in, listening, asking, contributing.

A space where different cultures, experiences, and perspectives working to settle their whanau in Aotearoa.

Lovely to see our youngsters in action,
and then walking into a fully set space ready for Iftar —

Families, women in beautiful traditional dress,
children running between tables,
people greeting each other like old friends.

From conversations to connection,
from data to real-life community —

This is what it looks like when diversity is not just talked about,
but lived. 🤍

What’s up this week

The Ministry for Ethnic Communities – 5 Years On Auckland session really reminded me how fast time flies.
I still remember the launch in Parliament back in 2021, and celebrating the first year together at the MEC office.

And now… somehow, it’s already been five years.

Thank you for the continued mahi supporting our ethnic communities — it truly makes a difference. Looking forward to seeing even more impact in the years ahead.

Also had the chance to attend the Eid celebration with West Auckland community leaders 🤍
It’s always special to connect and reconnect. Every year, I’m inspired by the incredible grassroots work happening quietly behind the scenes.

The true leaders are often the most humble ones.
