📣Andrew Hubbard, CABNZ deputy chief executive, spoke on RNZ about the results of a survey by MBIE and the Commerce Commission on what New Zealanders know about their consumer rights and their experiences of dealing with consumer problems.

The survey shows that while there is a high awareness of the existence of consumer protection laws, there is a big gap between people’s awareness of their rights and their practical understanding of how to use them.

Andrew talked with the Detail about the key legislation governing consumer rights in NZ and the kinds of purchases where consumers are most often seeking the CAB’s help. Andrew also pointed to the growing challenges for consumers in dealing with offshore retailers.
