Lake House Arts is excited to announce a collaboration with the Perth based Whisky and Boots’ for a weekend of live performances in the Becroft Gallery.

“Leave The Light On” brings Whiskey & Boots’ storytelling-with-music practice to Auckland, a city built on the overlapping journeys of First Nations Māori, third and fourth generation locals, and new migrants from across the globe. Each carries an entirely different, fascinating relationship to home.

Through headphone verbatim performance, live music, an audio installation and the anonymous “Dear Home” letters, real Aucklanders reflect on their own connection to HOME. The work changes with every person who shares in it, growing into a living portrait of home.

Whiskey & Boots is a Perth based performance company who make Headphone Verbatim Performance work that examines the challenges and contradictions of the human condition. Using storytelling with music, they take real stories gathered from a community and share them publicly, illuminating moments that are familiar, exposing common challenges and secret fears, reminding audiences that we are all complex, ugly, beautiful, brave, funny, flawed and vulnerable.

Revised opening times at Lake House arts to accommodate our spring schedule.

From the 10th of August we will be closed on Monday to the public, this includes our cafe and all of our galleries.

Our rooms are still available for venue hire and any classes on Monday will continue to go head as usual.

Open as normal Tuesday - Sunday.

Tūāhuatanga o te wā / Moments in Time is a materially ambitious show of over 70 sculptures, objects, and vessels. Examining the tangible, tactile relationship, Newton and Cathro share with the natural world as they move through it as artists; this exhibition traces how that experience is translated through their mahi.

The work presented represents an amalgamation, a collection, a dispersion, a chapter, the pause at the bottom of an exhale before the next intake of air. A homage to where these artists are, and a prelude to where they intend to move. An appreciation for the moments that shape practices, the assembly and the care, the moving on from work and into new projects. It speaks to honour what is gathered and tending to it when creative chapters close caring for our materials as kaitiakitanga throughout the creative process.

Join us on the 9th of August for our exhibition celebration 4-6pm
