Developing Disciples, Building Futures

At Church Schools, our mission is to develop disciples of Jesus Christ who are leaders in their homes, the Church, and their communities.

We were pleased to see this mission in action as 70 students from the Liahona TVET Adult Learning Programme participated in Tonga's inaugural TVET Skills Competition & Expo, with 21 students earning Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals across multiple trades. From culinary arts and electrical trades to automotive and carpentry, these students demonstrated skills, character, and leadership that will strengthen families, communities, and the future workforce of Tonga.

Congratulations to all students, instructors, and industry partners on this outstanding achievement.

This week in Fiji, Church School principals and coordinators from across the Pacific came together with a shared commitment to the youth and young adults of the Pacific.

There were important discussions, new ideas, and valuable partnerships. But what stood out most was the faith, unity, and love for students that filled the room.

The mission of Church Schools is to develop disciples of Jesus Christ who are leaders in their homes, the Church, and their communities. This conference reinforced our shared commitment to that mission.

We are grateful for the support of Elder Matt Eyring, Brother Asa Smibert, and our partners from BYU–Pathway Worldwide, BYU–Hawaii, BYU–Idaho, Ensign College, EnglishConnect, and Welfare and Self-Reliance Services.

And, of course, no gathering in the Pacific would be complete without beautiful singing. 🎶

The future is bright because of the young people we serve today.

We were so fortunate to welcome Elder and Sister Gong, Elder and Sister Duncan, and Elder and Sister Wakolo to Church College Fiji just over a week ago.

The visit began with a traditional Fijian welcome before they spent time visiting classrooms, meeting students, and seeing firsthand the many great things happening across our campus. Elder Gong was especially personable, taking every opportunity to talk with students and wanting to meet as many young people as possible during his visit. They visited senior students enrolled in BYU–Pathway Worldwide, our trades programmes, and boarding students from Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, and remote parts of Fiji who call our dormitories home.

The visit concluded with a devotional attended by students from both Church College Fiji and Church Primary School Fiji. Elder and Sister Gong, Elder and Sister Duncan, and Elder and Sister Wakolo each shared messages of faith, hope, and discipleship.

One message Elder Gong shared:
"The gospel is true. It is true. It is always true."

We are deeply grateful for the time these leaders spent with our students and staff. Their visit was a wonderful blessing and a reminder of the remarkable opportunities our young people have to learn, grow, and strengthen their testimonies.

We feel so blessed to have welcomed Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife Sister Kathy Andersen to Liahona High School 🙏✨

Students received an inspired message that strengthened their testimonies. What a powerful experience for our students to hear directly from a modern-day apostle of the Lord. The Spirit was strong, and hearts were uplifted as testimonies were strengthened and lives were touched.

Moments like these are truly unforgettable — a blessing our students will carry with them for years to come.

Thank you for visiting us in the isles of the sea Liahona High School with Elder Neil L. Andersen
