A reminder that we have the Beginners Sign Language Course 1A starting next week. Spaces are still available so sign up and start your sign language journey this October.

We are delighted to be offering the New Zealand Sign Language Beginners Course 1A once again at Highbury House. Barry will be returning to teach this 8 week course starting Monday 12th October, 7-9pm which will offer an introduction to NZSL - an official language of New Zealand.

Our community is what makes Birkenhead so special and we would love to see more of those moments captured. We had another fantastic Lunch Club yesterday.
Our seniors were treated to bacon and egg pie followed by the usual selection of delicious desserts from GBB.

A big thanks to author Adrienne Joyce who did a fascinating talk on how she moved a house from St Heliers to Mangawhai on a barge. Adrienne has written a successful children's book based on the experience and she shared lots of amazing photos of how the impressive move happened.

Summer is coming and hopefully there will be plenty of beach weather this year!

We are delighted to have the Safe Swim Project here to help teach kids how to stay safe in the water.

This one hour session will take place here at Highbury House on Sunday October 18th from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

Thank you to our wonderful community, friends, family, Highbury House staff and board members for supporting Highbury House and our manager tackle 3000 pushups for Blue September. Together we raised $441 for Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ! There is still time to donate to this to this valuable cause to support the 1 in 8 Kiwi men that will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Every little bit counts towards raising awareness and improve prostate cancer care and support across Aotearoa. See the donation link in the comments.

Looking for something productive to do with the kids now that the school holidays are here?

Why not take them out and about and get them to capture some images of our beautiful local environment for our Birkenhead Photo Competition?
