Highbury Community House Since 1979, our vibrant Community House in Birkenhead has empowered locals through connection, learning, and support.

Join us and be part of a welcoming space where everyone is valued. Highbury House is the community house in the Birkenhead area, we run classes for the community, workshops and events. Our 3 rooms are available to hire for meetings, counselling, classes etc, with commercial and community hire rates. We have a very popular Early Learning Centre for children

WAIATA ORA – VOICES OF OUR COMMUNITY

Come sing, laugh, connect and celebrate the beautiful voices of our community!

Join Papa Tamihana and our Kaumātua for a special morning filled with waiata, stories, good vibes and connection. Whether you love to sing, you’re new to it, or you simply want to pull up a seat and listen — everyone is welcome! There will also be a Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser, supporting young mums and bubs.

The event takes place at Highbury House on Sunday August 30th from 10am to 1pm and will be hosted by Onepoto Awhina. Thanks to the Kaipātiki Local Board for their support.

Come as you are. Leave with a waiata. We would love to see you there!

We have got something new here at Highbury House for our local gardening enthusiasts.

After our food pantry got overrun with books, we decided to create this lovely little seed library in its place. Thanks to Barbara from our knitting group for this wonderful idea.

Come along and leave any seeds in the small brown packets with a description of what they are and then feel free to take what you need.

Do you want to learn Mahjong in a fun and social environment?

Following on from the success of our Monday Mahjong session, we are delighted to now be running a 2nd session on a Wednesday.

Starting on Wednesday August 19th and running weekly from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, the first few Wednesday sessions will have tutors available who can help beginners learn to play the game.

No need to bring anything, we have the Mahjong sets, tables etc. here.

The cost is $3 per session.

The new $20 bag comes with an increased amount of fresh fruit and vegetables.

The contents this week will most likey be Potatoes, Broccoli, Carrots, Cauliflower, Leek, Apples, Avocado, Mandarins and Bananas.
