Earth may lie inside a vast, underdense region called the KBC Void. Some models describe it as nearly 2 billion light-years across and about 20% less dense than the cosmic average. Its weaker gravitational pull could allow matter to flow outward, making local cosmic expansion appear faster and possibly helping explain the Hubble tension. However, the evidence remains debated, and recent analyses do not all support a void of this enormous size. Earth is not trapped inside it. A cosmic void is simply a region containing fewer galaxies and less matter than average.
