I scream, you scream... who doesn't love a late-night sweet fix? If you’re looking for a treat for dessert, why not make a trip to Movenpick! We think it's always the right time for ice cream, rain or shine, winter or summer! During the winter, we like to pair a scoop (or two 😉) of ice cream with a hot chocolate or coffee to warm us up as we enjoy our icy treat

We're a Village with a View, with rainforest and gorgeous horizons to be admired right in the Village!
If you haven't been in our inner city rainforest lately, this is the perfect walk to admire the nature that is right on your front door! The remediation work that has been ongoing after the 2023 storms is nearing completion and we are so excited to be able to walk all the way through our inner city rainforest again! In the meantime, if you start in the Village you can walk through the start of the bush to the stunning waterfall then turn around back to the Village. Perfect for a quick nature walk before a coffee

A fun suburban walk to enjoy this winter, is along Birkenhead’s oldest street! Hinemoa Street leads all the way from the ferry wharf to the Village, with lots of historic houses to admire along the way and views stretching out across the harbour! We love to start at the wharf, ending at the Village to relax and warm up with a treat

Wanting to get out of the house to stretch your legs? You could explore the Hammonds Highbury heritage walk around the Village! Start at Zion Hill Church, and wander through to Highbury Corner and around the historic Art Deco buildings, packed full of history! There are 15 plaques that share each location's history and you can find a more detailed overview on our website, which also features a map of where each plaque is!

Birkenhead was initially established as a sugar town, where the workers of Chelsea Sugar lived and could walk to work. While most of us don't work there now, we still love to walk the routes that the initial sugar workers etched out on their paths to and fro in the 19th century! This can be done as a loop starting at up at Bungalo, and ending up at Nell Fisher Reserve, back in the heart of the Village!

Genzui Ramen Bar is one of our newer beloved local eateries!
Sanae and Tatz used to have a business in the CBD, and their authentic Japanese ramen and donburi now have customers travelling over the bridge so they can continue enjoying the delicious flavours! The menu is full of traditional flavours from Japan, with amazing quality and value. We think their ramen is perfect to help us warm up during this chilly winter!
