We’ve been longtime fans of Ala Turca Authentic Turkish Taste, where Sarwin and Qusay offer all the kebab classics alongside mezze platters full of a variety of Turkish dips and appetisers and fresh salads paired with perfectly cooked meats and falafel. Choi and Kim’s Yummy Korean is a small local that has become well loved by those who have been lucky enough to discover them! Anna described it perfectly, as it feels like you’re being invited into their home when you dine there. They offer comforting Korean classics served sizzling, including bibimbap, kimchi stew, and rice cake dishes that are perfect for this colder weather.

We’ve had a fishmonger in the Village for over a century, and Shaun and Tracey are the proud owners of our historic Highbury Fisheries! They offer a large variety of fresh fish, originally sourced by the fishmonger from the local wharf, alongside fish n chips that are perfect for friday night takeaway traditions.

Miyang and Julie at Lok Green have the best location in the Village, with stunning views of Le Roys Bush! But we don’t just love them for their view, their Korean barbeque can be cooked from your table and their a la carte menu is full of beloved Korean dishes that have our mouths watering! Anna at Viva mentioned the raw seafood platter, and we have to say it is the perfect starter being both light and fresh 😋

Have you stopped by Clapham's Bistro & Bar yet to meet Andrew and the team? Anna at Vivo described them as “an elegantly cosy bistro and bar” and she hit the nail on the head! They have a delicious menu, full of lighter and heartier options with Anna’s choice being the Scotch egg with pickle and gravy 😋 We think this new local is set to become a local favourite!

Steve, James and the team at BBC Tasting Studio by Birkenhead Brewing Co. are an essential part of the Village, with their rotating 10 beers on tap and delicious pub food! Anna at Viva mentioned their courtyard, and we have to agree that it’s the perfect spot to relax in the afternoon 🍺 What better way to relax than with hearty pub meals, a good beer and a welcoming atmosphere?

Johnny at Ros Ros is one of the newer additions to the Village, and his wood fired Korean flavours are his signature! He has created a modern take on traditional Korean flavours, bringing rich food that is balanced with fresh elements 😋 Anna at Viva said you shouldn’t miss the charred prawn cream upon!

Drum roll please!!! Jo Jo from Crave Home has just drawn out this years "lucky lucky winner" of the Birkenhead Village $1000 Perfect Pamper! This years winner.was Jane a customer from Thida Thai Massage & Beauty Spa NZ ! Thida and I have just spoken to Jane and she will spend the weekend savouring how to spend her $1000 on Village pampering! Thank you to all.the Village businesses for entering into the spirit of fun with customers.
