💙 Continued support. Real impact. Healthier futures.

A huge thank you to Auckland Airport Community Trust for once again supporting Asthma New Zealand and the work of our Respiratory Nurse Educators in South Auckland.

Their ongoing support helps us provide free, specialist respiratory care and asthma education to tamariki and whānau — in homes, schools, communities and general practices.

Last year alone, our South Auckland programme delivered 175 respiratory health reviews for children and whānau and provided respiratory education to 160 health professionals and community providers.
We’re incredibly grateful for Auckland Airport Community Trust’s continued belief in our mahi and their commitment to healthier South Auckland communities. 💙

We’re incredibly grateful to Dragon Community Trust for supporting the work of Asthma New Zealand. 💙

Their generous funding will contribute towards the salary of one of our Auckland Respiratory Nurse Educators, helping us continue to provide free asthma and COPD education and support to people and whānau across Auckland.

Our nurses work directly with people in their homes, schools, general practices and community settings — providing practical, personalised support with inhaler technique, asthma action plans, recognising worsening symptoms and building the knowledge and confidence to better manage their respiratory health.

This support also extends into schools, community groups and healthcare settings, helping strengthen respiratory health knowledge across our communities.

For many of the people we work with, barriers such as cost, transport and access to healthcare can make managing a respiratory condition even harder. Funding from Dragon Community Trust helps us keep our services free and accessible to those who need them.

A very big thank you from the Asthma NZ team for investing in healthier communities and helping more New Zealanders breathe easier. 💙

Right now, every dollar donated to Asthma New Zealand will go twice as far.

A generous donor has offered to match every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000. If together we raise $50,000, another $50,000 will be unlocked - giving us $100,000 to help more tamariki and whānau breathe easy.

Our goal is to employ a dedicated Respiratory Nurse Educator to take practical asthma education and support into Northland, South Auckland and Tairāwhiti -communities where access to specialist respiratory care and asthma education is very limited.

- Northland have only 3 children's specialist respiratory clinics per year
- Tairawhiti have no children's respiratory specialists
- Counties Manukau have some of the highest rates of children presenting to ED with respiratory issues

We want this nurse in place before winter 2027, helping children and whānau better manage asthma and supporting our goal of keeping more tamariki well and out of hospital.

🏠 We’ve moved!

After approximately 40 years at 581 Mt Eden Road, Asthma New Zealand has said goodbye to our long-standing home and moved into our new premises at 383B Khyber Pass Road, Newmarket.

For an organisation with such a long history at Mt Eden Road, this move represents much more than a change of address. It’s an opportunity to reflect on where we’ve come from, acknowledge the many staff, supporters and people who have contributed to Asthma NZ over the decades, and build on the strong foundations they created.

As we settle into our new home, we’re also looking ahead — thinking about what Asthma New Zealand needs for the future and how we can continue to grow our reach and support more people and whānau living with asthma and COPD across Aotearoa.

We’re incredibly excited to begin this next chapter. 💙
