📻 Leprosy Awareness Raising Through Radio in PNG 🇵🇬

For remote communities in Papua New Guinea, radio is a powerful way to share health information where access to TV and the internet is limited.

Obert, a PHACE (Preventative Health and Community Empowerment) Programme Trainer, is using regional radio in local languages to share about the programme and how people affected by leprosy can be involved and empowered.

With so many languages spoken across PNG, communicating through regional radio in local languages is a powerful way to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and ensure important health messages reach those who need them most.

Devastating flash floods have destroyed homes, damaged roads and cut off entire communities across Nepal 🇳🇵

This week, the Leprosy Mission Nepal team is on the ground, working alongside the government, other NGOs and local churches to distribute relief packages to families in affected areas, helping make sure no one is left behind.

At The Leprosy Mission, we know the people of Nepal to be resilient, determined, and gifted. It is hard to see the damage caused by the flash flood and we have been praying for all those affected.

Our team in Nepal have been liaising with government, other NGOs, churches, and Organisations of Persons Affected by Leprosy to understand how we can help:

❤️ Our team are working with local churches to identify persons affected by leprosy who need support

❤️ Our hospital is ready to support with those who have been injured, and within the coming days,

❤️ Once the roads open, we are planning to lead a medical camp in the affected area, alongside the supply of emergency resources.

Please continue to pray with us, not just for the emergency relief, but for the future of a region which must recover from this moment 🙏

While Gillian Whitley, LMNZ Executive Director, is in Papua New Guinea, she had the opportunity to meet with Faith and Kiteni and hear more about their lives and the challenges they continue to face.

Although they're doing well, their fight against leprosy isn't over yet. Both twins are still taking the multi-drug therapy (MDT) that will cure them. With continued treatment, care, and support, they can look forward to a healthy future filled with hope.
