What does the NZCPA Player Induction Forum mean to the people who take part in it?

For our newest members, the two-day forum is about much more than learning how the professional game works. It’s about discovering the support available on and off the field, building relationships, preparing for life beyond cricket and understanding that the NZCPA will be there throughout the journey.

In this video, Brad Rodden, Lea Tahuhu, Ish Sodhi, Ronnie Kapur, Ella Drumm and Simon Porter share what the 2026 Player Induction Forum meant to them.

As Ronnie reflected, one of the most eye-opening parts was seeing just how much support the NZCPA provides to players throughout their lives, while Ella spoke about the people behind the organisation who want the best for the players.

🏏 NEW PLAYERS TAKE THEIR FIRST STEPS INTO PROFESSIONAL CRICKET

Twenty-five newly contracted players came together in Auckland for the 2026 NZCPA Player Induction Forum.

Across two days, our newest members were introduced to the professional cricket environment and the wide range of support available to them through the NZCPA.

Ish Sodhi and Lea Tahuhu shared their experiences of the professional game and the importance of balance on and off the field, while the programme also covered personal development, contracts and anti-corruption, retirement planning, insurance and the wider high-performance environment.

For the new players, the forum is about much more than information. It is an opportunity to build relationships, ask questions and understand the network of people available to support them throughout their careers and beyond.

🏏 2026 PLAYER INDUCTION FORUM | THAT’S A WRAP

Two important days are complete for our 25 newly contracted players at Remuera Golf Club.

Day Two introduced our newest members to many of the practical areas they will encounter during their professional careers, including the master agreement and anti-corruption, personal development, the Cricket Players’ Property Trust, retirement planning, insurance and the high-performance environment.

Across the forum, the focus has been on helping players understand not only the professional cricket environment, but also the importance of balance away from the game and the support available to them throughout their careers and beyond.

A big thank you to nib, Hive, SuperLife, InsureYou and NZC for joining us and sharing their expertise with our players.

Most importantly, welcome to our newest NZCPA members.

🏏 DAY ONE | 2026 PLAYER INDUCTION FORUM

Today we welcomed 25 newly contracted players to Remuera Golf Club for Day One of our annual NZCPA Player Induction Forum.

The opening day introduced our newest members to the role of the NZCPA and the support available to them throughout their careers and beyond.

Ish Sodhi and Lea Tahuhu shared their experiences and perspectives on life in the professional game, before the players were introduced to our Personal Development Programme and the support available away from the field.

Most importantly, the forum is an opportunity to start building relationships and make sure our newest members know they have a strong network around them from the beginning of their professional journey.

A great first day with plenty more to come tomorrow.
