We continue to be in awe of the achievements of our workshoppers. From never having picked up a power tool not that long ago, look what they've now created on our beginners cabinetry workshop under the skillful guidance of our fabulous teacher Mathilde Polmard (https://mathildepolmard.com):

Woodworking has really positive physical and mental health benefits. It’s great for strength and agility, and because you're often working with sharp blades, you have to be 'in the moment' to avoid any 'mishaps'. Not only that, its an intergenerational hobby where you never stop learning.

Which is why the good folk at Waitakere Health Link Inc invited us to an open day at Waitakere hospital. We had lots of women (and men) come and chat to find out more.

On Saturday we had the pleasure of helping some wonderful Women of Wellington (WOWs) to gain confidence and skills using a whole heap of hand and power tools including circ.saws, jigsaws, drills and planers.

It was our very first workshop in the Wellington region, made possible by the good sorts at Otaki MenzShed and one of our very talented teachers and all round good egg Courtney Shay Willan 🤩

From a small mention on a local community page, we've had a huge response from lots of women who are keen as beans to learn valuable and empowering woodworking skills.

As we review the feedback from this inaugural session, we'll let you know ASAP if there'll be more woodworking classes ahead. Of course, these will be made all the more likely if we can find more sponsors!🤞

C'mon girls, let's bring it on 💪
