WHY WE STARTED...
Laura Howard, an inspirational mother, founded Littlemore in 2013 (Auckland, New Zealand) after hearing a passing comment from her midwife about how some babies born in Auckland were sent home in baby-sized hospital gowns, as their families had no clothes for them. As a mum of a newborn herself, her heart was touched, and she knew she had to do something about it. Over the last 6 years, Littlemore has grown significantly from a tiny set up in Laura’s living room to the organisation it is today. WHAT WE DO...
We’re proud to be a volunteer-run not-for-profit organisation. Littlemore receive, sort and organise your good quality pre-loved (and new) baby clothes and other baby items, so they can be donated on to families with babies living in poverty and facing serious life challenges. Your donations will help ensure every family has the essential baby items they need to nurture their babies and keep them warm and safe during the critical first year of life. It’s also a great way to give your donated items a second life, share the joy of becoming a parent, and involve your family in thinking about recycling and giving to others. AWARDS...

• Kiwibank NZ Local Hero of the Year Medal (2016) - Awarded
• Community Spirit Award at Pride of NZ Awards (2015) - Winner

👩‍🎓 It's Youth Volunteer Week. 'Taringa Whakarongo! Ki te reo o ngā taiohi' - 'Our Voices Matter! We deserve to be heard'.

We'd like to celebrate and recognise the amazing contributions of our young superheroes, who are striving to make a change through volunteering.

Throughout the year, we've encouraged our young people to share ideas, take up challenges, lead small projects and supported them through the design, delivery and evaluation of their projects. Many of them supported our cause by carrying out donation drives. Some joined our team as sorters/packers of baby items. Their commitment, self-motivation and genuine desire to help new mums living in hardship is so inspiring. We love watching them grow, flourish and create change in their local communities.

Claire said "I’ve been able to participate in meaningful work and also got to know new people with similar interests. I've learnt practical skills like organising/tracking units, as well as soft skills including efficient team communication".

Jasmine said "I enjoy packing boxes during shifts to help families living in hardship. I've also learned how to manage my time better and work in a team".

We're so proud of all our volunteers, many of whom give up their Saturday mornings to make a meaningful difference in our community. ❤️

With winter approaching, we're in desperate need of cot and bassinet size blankets. They're flying off the shelves as soon as we receive them. We don't have any left. We're being asked for blankets every day - help us to keep new mums n bubs warm.

We also need cot and bassinet size sheets, swaddles/wraps, sleeping bags/sacks. If you have any you no longer need, please donate now. If you're a business and in a position to help, we'd love to hear from you. (Soft wool & cotton only. No fleece or acrylic please). ❤

We've had a fantastic response to the recent gift hampers, so generously donated by New World Long Bay .

Pictured here South Seas Healthcare and Anglican Trust for Women and Children were very grateful to receive the most beautifully presented hampers with yummy treats for the whole family. One new mum commented "things have been very hard lately (financially), it's been quite overwhelming to provide for my baby. Receiving this hamper with all the baby things made me feel supported and cared for. I honestly cried when I saw everything being dropped off by my Social Worker".

Huge thanks to our community of donors and businesses like New World Long Bay who make a meaningful difference to those living in hardship every day. This is extra special and will help families to get through difficult times with a little love, comfort and care. 🙏

Massive thanks to the fab team at New World Long Bay for gifting something so special for our new mums living in hardship. We were blown away by their kindness and generosity, gifting lots of beautifully presented food hampers with a wide range of treats. They also donated heaps of toiletries. A great way to spread a little love, comfort and care this Mother's day. ❤

We're so proud to partner with local businesses like these who choose to support our mission. We support 1,000s of women and teen mums every year, throughout the Auckland region. Massive thanks to everyone who made this possible. 🙏
