Animals Free of Cages Abolish zoos - I will never visit another zoo again. There are many arguments both for and against why we should have zoos.

This page was built to give people a chance to express their personal views on the subject or to show their support. For a long time now I have considered zoos to be an out dated form of entertainment. Who are we to determine what species should be kept in cages or large enclosures purely for our own agenda and amusement? The pro arguments for zoos cover topics such as education, preventing the ex

tinction of endangered species and conservation. On the surface these seem like positive arguments but when you dig a little deeper I believe these points do not hold much weight. In this digital age we now live in we have more than enough data, film, books etc.. to educate ourselves on just about any animal that is alive today. Typically animals are endangered due to man's activities and expansion as we struggle to accommodate our ever growing population and the resources needed to feed, house and clothe the human race.

Good to see animal welfare practices are changing to reflect modern attitudes. Just have to wait for the Government to catch-up and get with the programme.

OPINION: A parliamentary commissioner for animals is needed, to advocate for farm animals and ensure the regulatory body is accountable.
