Online harm affects all of us, and the status quo can’t continue. Everyone should be able to enjoy social media, free of fear of abuse and scams.

We’re calling on the next government to prioritise safer online platforms in its first 100 days, with four things built into what comes next:

🔹 Transparency: Big tech must show how algorithms work
🔹 Duty of care: Big tech must build in safety by design
🔹 Independent oversight: Regulators must have real power to penalise companies breaking the rules
🔹 Te Tiriti o Waitangi: Partnership with Māori on these regulations

Whether or not an under-16 social media ban goes ahead, these four asks will still be vital.

Creativity needs somewhere to go

Meditative Art is seven weeks of drawing, painting, craft and meditation - a space to experiment, make things, follow an idea, get curious about what comes up, and access parts of yourself that don’t always get much room in everyday life.

You don’t need to consider yourself an artist or even arrive with an idea of what you’re going to make - instead, this is about the process.

Our Extended Beginners te reo Māori me ōna tikanga class is for women and non-binary folk who already have a little reo and want to keep using it, speaking it and learning more.

Whaea Yvonne will take you through waiata, karakia, mihimihi, pronunciation and everyday conversation - with lots of chances to actually use what you’re learning.

A Barcelona theatre tried to advertise its production of Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own and had the ad blocked, reportedly because references to feminism and social reform were flagged as “social topics”.

Meta has since said it was removed in error and restored the ad.
