Cathy Garcia-Sampana is one of the most successful filmmakers in the Phillipines. Her films have been the highest-grossing Filipino film of the year on nine occasions, and on six occasions have been the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time (Wikipedia). And with all of that, she spends a half of her time in Aotearoa!

WIFT & PASC are delighted to have Cathy speak to us about her journey as a filmmaker, working within her values, and how the screen industry in Asia is vastly different from ours.
The session will be moderated by Marc Laureano.

Date: Wednesday 21st October
Time: Drinks from 6pm | Panel from 6:30pm - 8pm
Location: St Columba Centre, 40 Vermont St, Ponsonby, Auckland.

Re-sharing this tribute from :

We honour the life and legacy of Dame Jools Topp.

A storyteller, entertainer and trailblazer, she helped Aotearoa see itself more clearly with humour, honest and heart.

Through her work alongside her twin sister, Dame Lynda, she brought kiwi life voices and communities to the screen in ways that were joyful, familiar, and unmistakably our own.

Her legacy lives on in the laughter she sparked, the characters she brought to life, and the sense of connection she created for so many.

Our thoughts are with her whānau, loved ones, and all those who were touched by her life and mahi.

Moe mai rā e te Rangatira.
