🤝SWAN, in collaboration with the Collaborative Schools Network and Katari Municipality, successfully conducted a two-day teacher training for teachers from 11 community schools, covering ECD to Grade 3.

📚 The training focused on strengthening curriculum delivery and enhancing pedagogical practices to create more engaging and joyful learning environments.

We are also pleased to have representatives from Katari Municipality, whose partnership and encouragement reinforced the shared commitment to quality education.

Many thanks to the Collaborative Schools Network for their expertise and for delivering such a powerful and impactful training.

🌟 Building Strong Foundations in Literacy and Numeracy! 🌟

Our amazing local volunteers in Katari Municipality conducted FLN assessments for children from ECD to Grade 3 at the end of the Nepali academic year 2082 📚✏️.

These one-on-one assessments help us understand how children are progressing in essential skills like letters, numbers, reading, and basic math 🔢📖.

The results give us insights into learning gaps, so we can provide targeted support and ensure every child has a strong foundation for a successful academic journey 🌱🎓.

We’re eagerly awaiting their results, which will also highlight the real impact of our LEAP programme 💛👏

🌟 Expanding Quality Education in Katari Municipality

We are thrilled to announce that SWAN, Collaborative Schools Network and Katari Municipality have joined hands to expand the LEAP Program to 11 community schools in Katari, Udayapur! 🎉

Over the past two years, SWAN and CSN have transformed 5 schools—making learning fun, strengthening teachers’ skills, and inspiring children to actively participate in classrooms. Seeing this positive impact firsthand, Katari Municipality has joined hands to expand the program to 11 schools from Nepali academic year 2083 to academic year 2085.

The program focuses on:

📚 Teacher training
📖 Structured lesson plans
✏️ Worksheets for Nursery to Grade 3
📝 Regular monitoring, teacher coaching and year-end FLN assessments

Together, we are creating joyful, effective classrooms and ensuring that many more children can experience the power of quality education! 💛

SWAN in partnership with Collaborative Schools Network (CSN) is creating engaging and effective classrooms by providing regular teacher training, structured lesson plans, and worksheets to ensure quality education in public schools of Katari Municipality, Udayapur. The positive impact in schools has led Katari Municipality to partner with SWAN and CSN, expanding the program from five to 11 schools.

An immediate outcome has been the reduction in dropout cases and an increase in student enrollment across the supported schools.

We are excited to roll out the Learning Enrichment and Achievement Program (LEAP) across Katari Municipality, alongside our ongoing efforts in school construction, renovation and maintenance, WASH, and teacher support.

Photo highlights from our recent capacity-building training for community health workers in Achham and Bajura on Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) and Helping Mothers Survive (HMS) under the Maternal and Child Health Project. SWAN’s Founder Chairperson, Mr. Krishna Karki, recently conducted a field visit to project sites across Karnali and the Far-Western Province, engaging directly with community members to better understand the challenges faced by people living in remote areas of Nepal.

Mr. Karki met with local men and women, farmers, teachers, community leaders, and children during his visit to Tumcha village in Humla, Kuru village in Bajura, and Ramaroshan village in Achham district. He witnessed firsthand the daily struggles of these communities and listened to their aspirations for a better life. He also held extensive discussions with local stakeholders on how the organization can effectively respond to their needs.

Based on these interactions and field observations, Mr. Karki emphasized that only integrated development efforts—focusing on education, maternal and child health, livelihoods, and eco-tourism—can lead to lasting change and build self-reliant, resilient communities in these regions.

“We can help empower communities through holistic and sustainable interventions that will create meaningful impact in the remote places of Nepal, and we are committed to bringing that change for the sake of people in need,” said Mr. Karki.
