This week, to mark International Disappearance Week, families of the disappeared gathered in Kathmandu. For the wives, mothers, and daughters left behind, the wait is a heavy burden, but our resilience is unbroken.

Swipe through to see our journey. We shared a safe space for deep healing and mutual support, honored our loved ones with a candlelight vigil, and channeled our strength into action. Following vital discussions, we prepared a formal memorandum to submit to the government, demanding they include victims' voices in all reparation policies.

We will not stop searching.

The laws exist, but accountability does not. Out of 78,000+ complaints of Conflict victims, and 3200+ complaints of enforced disappearances in Nepal, not a single one has been resolved.

While the state chooses to forget, we refuse to let the truth fade. Memory is our resistance.

🕯️ Stand with the families. Demand justice today.

This International Week of the Disappeared, Advocacy Forum-Nepal stands with ICAED and families worldwide. We urgently call on governments to end these atrocities and guarantee reparations.

Our Demands:

Investigate: Conduct prompt, impartial investigations to uncover the truth.

Protect: Ensure the safety of victims' families and human rights defenders.

Ratify: Implement the International Convention against enforced disappearances.

Families remain "trapped between hope and uncertainty." It is time for accountability.

Memory is Resistance: Carrying Hope, Demanding Truth.

Enforced disappearance is more than an abduction, it is a deliberate act of state concealment that strips individuals of their fundamental rights and leaves families in a permanent state of trauma.

This International Week of the Disappeared, we are breaking down the legal realities, the human rights violations, and the absolute obligations of the State.

Because the state holds the power to erase, we use memory as our strongest weapon. We stand with the families. We refuse to forget.

Defying Supreme Court orders, sudden evictions since April 25 have violently displaced 15,000 people and tragically claimed three lives.

Thousands are now abandoned in inadequate holding centers, offered only token cash instead of the legally mandated resettlement they deserve.

Advocacy Forum-Nepal and over 50 human rights organizations demand an immediate halt to this cruelty. Housing is a basic human right, not a privilege.

Memory is Resistance.

When systems try to erase the past, and when authorities encourage amnesia, remembering becomes a radical act of defiance.

For the International Week of the Disappeared, we stand with the families breaking through the walls of silence. We refuse to forget. We carry their hope. We demand the truth.
