πŸ–Š The Migrants Commission, in collaboration with the Franciscan Capuchins and Refugee Week Malta 2026, is inviting you to another Botanical Fabulations Workshop: Sensory-scapes, memory, and the courage to search for home.

🌿 Together, we will explore how plants accompany us on our journeys. By engaging with our senses, we will reflect on the entanglements between plants, memories, and emplacement. We will share stories of place-making under the shade of citrus trees.

πŸ“Œ The workshop will be held on the 20th of June at the Franciscan Capuchin Friary, Bishop F. X. Fenech Street, Floriana, at 4:00 p.m.

πŸ–Š The Archbishop's Delegate for Culture is once again, supporting Refugee Week Malta, this year through its Rooftop Fringe Programme.

A three day film programme is being co-curated and screenings will be held between the 17th and 19th of June 2026 at Palazzo de Piro in Mdina.

β–ͺ This event is made possible through collaborations with Dance Beyond Borders, Aditus Foundation, MOAS and Christine X gallery.

Exploring migration, refuge, identity, and belonging through film, art, and conversation, the programme will feature documentaries, short and feature films, by internationally acclaimed filmmakers, including works presented in collaboration with Refugee Week UK and Counterpoints Arts.

Pre and post screening discussions will also take place each day while members of the Sudanese and Palestinian communities will be offering refreshments.

Social Doctrine teaches us that the human person, made in the image of the Triune God, possesses inviolable rights and an intrinsic dignity, which belongs to everyone without distinction. For this reason, writes that "the human person always remains the 'way for the Church' and the heart of every authentic path of integral human development" (MH 48-50). ❀️

πŸ–Š The Pass Pass workshop explored themes about what disappears and what remains, gardens that live in memory but are no longer physical places as they've been built up.

🌿 The garden reminds us how fragile life is. Gardens disappear, as lives on migration journeys do. What do they leave behind ? What remains ?

πŸ–Š What is it about plants, and memory ?

🌿 Participants looked for familiar plants or remembered other ones not in Mdina. Plants are deeply entangled with our personal, family, and cultural memories, and there is something about memory and identity(ies).
