TAMA

TAMA To support persons in vulnerable situations.

Founded in 2020, TAMA is a women-led voluntary organisation tackling sexual and gender-based
violence (SGBV) in Malta, with particular focus on those with migration experiences. What distinguishes TAMA is its foundation—a multicultural team where many members bring direct lived experience to their professional expertise. This practical knowledge informs their comprehensive approach, which spans tr

auma-informed wellbeing services, creative community-building initiatives, educational trauma-informed training for front-line workers, and strategic advocacy with policymakers. TAMA's work addresses concrete gaps in Malta's support systems through targeted services: trauma-informed health support for SGBV survivors, art-based social engagement programs that facilitate healing, educational workshops on equality and inclusion, and capacity
building with both government and non-governmental partners. By connecting survivors directly with decision-makers, TAMA ensures that policy discussions are grounded in reality rather than theory. Their effectiveness comes from this pragmatic combination of frontline support and systemic change—building pathways for survivors to move from vulnerability to empowerment while simultaneously addressing the structural issues that perpetuate violence.

Voting today, for a better tomorrow. 🌸

Diana reminds us that democracy doesn’t begin and end at the ballot box.

We vote through the communities we build. Through the people we stand beside. Through the injustices we challenge. Through the kindness, courage, and humanity we choose every day.

An election may last a day, but the responsibility of creating a better society continues long after the results are announced.

How will you vote with your actions tomorrow? 💜

Gender based violence is not a “women’s problem” to solve quietly behind closed doors.

It affects families. Communities. Workplaces. Mental health. Children. Entire societies.

And until more people start treating it as everybody’s issue, the cycle continues.

Awareness is not enough anymore. We need accountability, education, intervention, and people brave enough to speak up when something feels wrong.

Silence protects violence. Community challenges it!! 💜

Better societies are built when women are heard, protected, and part of the decisions shaping our communities!

Real change starts with conversation and collective action.

Some days that looks like deep conversations about trauma and justice. Other days it’s laughing across the table while trying to survive another meeting.

At TAMA, we see every day how powerful women become when they feel believed, supported, and safe enough to just be themselves. 💜

Last year, Emma exhibited “The Load I Carried” with us through the Bridging Borders project. Our offices transformed into room full of drawings, honesty, anger, grief, survival.

Last week, after a long fight, a judge ruled that silence does not mean consent, overturning the earlier decision not to prosecute her r**e case.

Reading that felt heavy. Important too.

Heavy, because no woman should have to fight this hard to prove something as basic as the fact that silence is not consent.

Emma’s exhibition spoke so much about what happens when your body freezes, when harm happens in places meant to feel safe, and when women are left carrying the emotional weight of it all quietly.

We’re proud of you, Emma. Not only because you had to be “strong” through this, but because you kept going. You stood by your truth. You pushed through despite all the backlash.

Your art, your voice, your refusal to disappear it’s moved people more than you probably know. 💜Xx

At TAMA, so much of our work is about helping people return to themselves. 💜

After trauma, displacement, violence, or years of shrinking to survive, simply being yourself again can feel revolutionary.

And the truth is, when people feel safe enough to exist fully as themselves, they bring something valuable into the world that wasn’t there before.

That’s why safe spaces matter. That’s why our community matters.

Nakba means “catastrophe.”

In 1948, over 750,000 Palestinians were displaced from their homes. More than 500 Palestinian villages were destroyed or depopulated.

Today, millions of Palestinians remain displaced across Palestine and the diaspora.

This is not just history to many families.
It is memory. Loss. Identity. Survival.
