We Want to Hear Your Voice – Take Part in the Irish Volunteering Index!

At A.S.S.C., we are always looking for ways to better support our members, volunteers, and everyone connected with our organisation. To help us do this, we are taking part in the Irish Volunteering Index, and we would greatly appreciate your input.

Whether you volunteer with us or not, we want to hear from you!

This short anonymous survey is an opportunity to share your views on:
- What is already working well within A.S.S.C.
- What could be improved
- Where additional or different support may be needed

The survey is open from 14 September to 30 October 2026 and can be completed completely anonymously.

The Irish Volunteering Index is a national initiative led by Volunteer Ireland and Bpact. The findings will help organisations like ours better understand and improve the volunteer experience, while contributing to a wider understanding of volunteering across Ireland.

The biggest survey on volunteering and social engagement is coming to Ireland

A.S.S.C. was invited to attend the launch of the Joint Committee on Justice, Home Affairs and Migrations report on Supports and Experiences of Victims of Crime, following A.S.S.C.'s submission. The report sets out 47 recommendations aimed at improving the experience of child victims of crime.

A.S.S.C. would like to commend the Committees work on the report and is specifically encouraged to see the recommendations numbered 28 - 32 inclusive, which directly relate to child victims, witnesses and their families.

A.S.S.C. continues to advocate for children, young people and their families to be recognised and prioritised within the Criminal Justice System.

This report emphasis the importance for children to have access to clear referral pathways to specialised support, with an aim to improve national collection and coordination of data, to support evidence based policy changes.

Court Information Visits are provided by A.S.S.C. before a trial or district court hearing and can help to take away some of the unknown. A little preparation can make a big difference, helping young people feel safer, more informed and more confident on the day that matters most.
