香港牙醫學會 Hong Kong Dental Association

香港牙醫學會於1950年成立，當時創會的英文名稱為 Hong Kong Dental Society。學會現今會員人數已超過2,000名，佔全港註冊牙醫九成。

香港政府一向倚重學會為香港牙醫業界代表，就牙科政策事宜向學會諮詢建議。 學會在政府政策上一直擔當重要角色。在早期香港牙科發展時，學會已主動向政府提出牙科發展建議，如食水加氟計劃、在本地開辦牙科醫學院，設立菲臘牙科醫院 訓練本地牙科醫生和牙齒衞生員訓練學校等等。 學會近年來，加強和政府協商，積極推動公私營合作計劃，透過增加醫療券金額， 擴展關愛基金長者牙科資助項目，推動長者院舍外展牙科服務及智障人士牙科資助服務，照顧社會上有需要的人士。

學會一向積極鼓勵業內專才不斷自我革新，提升專業技術和水平。學會舉辦每月研討會及工作坊等，為會員提供持續進修的機會，並且邀請本地及海外資深學者、極具威望的專家為會員進行演說。學會還積極主辦國際性牙科

會議，與各國優秀牙科專才進行交流，互相切磋。香港牙醫學會是亞太區牙科組織聯盟 (Asia Pacific Dental Federation) 的創會會員，早於80年初已經是FDI世界牙醫聯盟 (FDI World Dental Federation) 的會員。曾主辦多屆亞太區口腔會議 ，並分別於1995年及2012年主辦 FDI世界牙科會議。

學會推動口腔健康教育更是不遺餘力。透過不同媒體 及社交平台宣傳口腔健康資訊，讓大眾意識到養成良好口腔健康習慣 對身體健康的重要性。

在未來的日子，香港牙醫學會將會秉承一貫信念，一方面鼓勵同業在牙科領域不斷求進，精益求精，另一方面積極推動口腔健康教育，務求提升市民口腔健康水平。 在政策層面，學會將會繼續就政府各項施政提出意見，為業界發聲，為市民謀福祉。

Hong Kong Dental Association was founded in 1950, formerly known as Hong Kong Dental Society. The Association has been recognized as a representative of the dental profession in Hong Kong by the Government, which has consulted the Association on matters related to dental policies Right in the early days, the Association already took the initiative to give dental development recommendations to the Government such as water fluoridation scheme, set up of a dental school in Hong Kong and a training school for dental hygienists, etc. Over the past few years, the Association has strengthened its liaison and cooperation with the Government to promote public-private partnership. Throughout the years the Association has offered assistances to the needy in receiving better primary dental care through the Health Care Voucher Scheme, Community Care Fund Elderly Dental Assistance Programme, Outreach Dental Care Programme for the Elderly and Project on Dental Services for Persons with Intellectual Disability. Since its establishment, the Association has been encouraging lifelong learning of the profession and elevating professional skills and standards. It has been providing members with continuing education opportunities by organizing monthly meetings, workshops, one-day courses, etc. and inviting local and overseas academic and renowned experts to give lectures. It also hosted international dental congresses to foster exchange of dental knowledge and skills , such as the Asia Pacific Dental Congresses (APDC) in 1984 , 2004, 2009 and 2016. As well as the 83rd FDI Annual World Dental Congress (AWDC) in 1995 and 2012. The Association was fully aware of the importance of public oral health education . To make people aware of the importance of a sound oral health habit, it has organized dental health programs and disseminated correct oral health messages to the general public by different forms of activities. In the years to come, Hong Kong Dental Association will adhere to its philosophy of encouraging the profession to strive for excellence on the one hand , while promoting oral health education to enhance public oral health status on the other. As a representative of the dental profession, the Association will continue responding to Government's consultations on various policy issues.
