We are delighted to announce that all Wales Care Awards 2026 finalists have now been contacted.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to every interviewee, our dedicated panel of judges, and the employers who took the time to nominate outstanding individuals and teams this year. Your continued support underpins the success of these Awards.

We look forward to welcoming our finalists to Cardiff this October, where we will come together to celebrate their remarkable achievements and honour the outstanding contribution of the social care sector across Wales.

The Caring in Welsh Award is an annual award that recognises, celebrates and shares the work of those who’ve made a real difference to people’s lives by providing care and support through the medium of Welsh.

The award recognises the work of people working in social care, social work and childcare, play and early years from across the public, private, voluntary and co-operative sectors in Wales.

Announcing the winner:
The winner will be announced at an event at the National Eisteddfod in y Garreg Las, Pembrokeshire at midday on Tuesday, 4 August 2026.

Have Your Say: NMC Practice Learning Consultation

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is consulting on proposed changes to its Practice Learning Standards, which will shape how nurses and midwives are educated, supervised and supported in practice.
This is an important opportunity for registrants to help influence future standards. Care Forum Wales encourages members to review the proposals and share their views before the consultation closes.

Free HIV Awareness Webinar for Social Care

Social Care Wales, in partnership with the Terrence Higgins Trust, is delivering a series of free online webinars to help social care professionals improve HIV awareness, reduce stigma and provide inclusive, person-centred care.
Sessions run from July 2026 to February 2027, so you can choose a date that suits you.

The webinars include lived experience speakers and introduce the free "Can't Pass It On" training resource.

Nominations Open: Caring in Welsh Award 2026
Social Care Wales is inviting nominations for the Caring in Welsh Award 2026, which celebrates care and support workers who make a positive difference to people's lives through the use of Welsh.
The award is open to paid workers in social care, social work, and childcare, play and early years services across Wales. Nominees do not need to be fluent Welsh speakers – even a small amount of Welsh can make a significant difference to the people they support.
Finalists and their nominators will be invited to an award ceremony at the National Eisteddfod in Pembrokeshire this August.

Free Online Course: Challenging Ageism in Wales
The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales has launched a free online course to help people recognise and challenge ageism. Developed with the Open University in Wales, the course explores the impact of age discrimination and provides practical guidance on tackling it.
The course is free and open to everyone.
