🌟 Volunteers’ Week Spotlight: Meet Colleen 🌟

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the incredible volunteers who help make 6th Wrexham Scouts such a special place for young people.

Next up is Colleen, who has been part of our Scouts family for an amazing 32 years 💚

Here’s why Colleen volunteers:
💬 “Like many volunteers, I became a leader when my son was in Cubs. Our group were looking for a cook to help on camp and 32 years later, I’m still here.

I love the planning of activities and camps and then seeing the faces of the children as they participate. It is such a privilege to do this and see them develop through the sections.
I have seen my two sons and two grandsons go through the system and they have gained so much from Scouting, as have I.”

A huge thank you to Colleen for her incredible dedication, commitment and the difference she has made to generations of young people at 6th Wrexham Scouts 🙌

🌟 Volunteers’ Week Spotlight: Meet Andrew 🌟

To celebrate Volunteers’ Week, we’re shining a light on some of the amazing people who give their time to help make 6th Wrexham Scouts such a fantastic place for young people to grow, learn and thrive.

First up is Andrew, one of our dedicated volunteers who gives his time as a Group Lead Volunteer and Scout Leader 💚

Here’s why Andrew volunteers:
💬 “I volunteer as a Group Lead Volunteer and Scout Leader because I’m passionate about supporting young people as they grow and develop.

I find it incredibly rewarding to play a part in helping them build skills, confidence and resilience through new experiences and challenges.

One of the most fulfilling aspects is seeing them progress from young people into confident young adults, ready to take on the world.

Being able to contribute to that journey and make a positive difference in their lives is what motivates me to give my time.”

Thank you, Andrew, for everything you do for our young people and for helping create opportunities, adventures and skills for life at 6th Wrexham Scouts 🙌

⚖️ Camp Court was in session at Rogue Ember Scout Unit last night!

⚖️
The Honourable Judge Andrew took his place in court, with the court-appointed hippo also in attendance 🦛 alongside the highly esteemed Camp Committee.

A number of truly heinous crimes were brought to trial, including:

🩹 The first aider needing the first ice pack.

🚪 A very questionable risk assessment when entering the infamous Smelly Room

🛏️ Hiding under beds to avoid detection

…just to name a few! 👀

Thankfully, justice was served (mostly!), plenty of laughs were had, and camp memories were made.

Who knows what offences may come before the court next time… ⚖️😂

50 Years of Friendship Between Wrexham District Scouts and Our Friends in Germany 🇩🇪🏕️
We’re incredibly proud to see our long-standing international friendship featured in the German press during this year’s campfire celebrations in Hemer.

For 50 years, Scouts from Wrexham District and Ring “Rote Erde” in Hemer, Germany have shared adventures, camps, friendship, and unforgettable memories across borders.

The article reflects on how this partnership began in 1976, when Scouts from Hemer first travelled to Wales, followed by visits to Germany, shared camps, and generations of young people building friendships that have stood the test of time.
As the article beautifully puts it, this friendship has built “bridges between countries, cultures and people.” Despite different languages and backgrounds, the spirit of Scouts — friendship, respect, trust, and adventure — has kept us connected for half a century.

This year’s visit saw 31 young people and 14 leaders from Wales spend time in Germany, enjoying campfires, songs, exchanging neckers, exploring the local area, and continuing a tradition that means so much to so many.

A huge thank you to our friends in Hemer for their warm welcome and hospitality. Here’s to many more years of friendship, adventure, and international Scouting together.

Last night, we had a brilliant BBQ with the Hermers Scouts, celebrating a friendship that Wrexham Scouts has proudly maintained for over 50 years. 🇬🇧🇩🇪
This long-standing connection is the whole reason for our trip to Germany, bringing young people together, sharing experiences, building friendships, and making memories that last a lifetime.
A huge thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome. Here’s to continuing a very special friendship for many more years to come! 🔥🌍
