A huge shout out to the 160 Scouts, Young Leaders and Volunteers from Wrexham who are settling in for their first night at the All Wales Scout Camp 2026!
They are joining more than 2,500 Scouts and volunteers from across Wales for an action-packed weekend filled with adventure, new experiences, and opportunities to learn valuable skills.
Most importantly, they'll be making new friends and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

As Volunteers' Week comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment, as District Lead Volunteer for Wrexham Scouts, to recognise just a few of the incredible volunteers who help make Scouting happen across our District.

Last night at District Cub Camp, I had the privilege of presenting three awards:

🏅 Mark from Overton - 10 Years Service Award

🏅 Kay from Coedpoeth - 15 Years Service Award

🏅 Bethan from Rossett - Commissioner's Commendation

These awards recognise different things, but they all have one thing in common: people who give their time, energy and enthusiasm to create opportunities for young people.

Whether it's running weekly meetings, organising camps and activities, supporting events behind the scenes, or simply being there week after week, our volunteers make a huge difference. Without them, the experiences, adventures and memories that Scouting provides simply wouldn't be possible.

A huge thank you to Mark, Kay and Bethan, and to every volunteer across Wrexham District who helps make Scouting what it is.

If you've ever thought about getting involved, we'd love to hear from you. You don't need previous Scouting experience, just a willingness to give a little of your time and help young people gain skills for life. There are all sorts of volunteer opportunities available, whatever your skills, interests or availability.

Thank you to all our volunteers, not just during Volunteers' Week, but every week of the year.

As part of , we want to take a moment to recognise and thank the incredible volunteers who make Scouting in Wrexham possible.

With over 800 young people involved across Wrexham District Scouts, we simply could not provide the opportunities, adventures and experiences we do without the dedication of our volunteers.

From our section leaders who plan and deliver inspiring weekly programmes, helping young people learn valuable life skills, to our trustees who work behind the scenes to ensure our groups run effectively. We are also grateful to the many volunteers who support specialist teams across the district, including the fantastic team at Cox Wood, our local campsite and activity centre, who provide a safe and welcoming environment for outdoor learning and adventure.

These are just a few examples of the many people who generously give their time, energy and skills to support Scouting in Wrexham.

To every volunteer across our district – thank you. Your commitment helps shape the lives of hundreds of young people every week, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do.

50 years ago a group of scouts from Hemer travelled to Wrexham, beginning a freindship that has spanned generations of Scouts from both Countries.
See the attached article (translated and condensed by 6th Wrexham Scout Group , Thank you!) to find out more about this amazing connection.

50 Years of Friendship Between Wrexham District Scouts and Our Friends in Germany 🇩🇪🏕️
We’re incredibly proud to see our long-standing international friendship featured in the German press during this year’s campfire celebrations in Hemer.

For 50 years, Scouts from Wrexham District and Ring “Rote Erde” in Hemer, Germany have shared adventures, camps, friendship, and unforgettable memories across borders.

The article reflects on how this partnership began in 1976, when Scouts from Hemer first travelled to Wales, followed by visits to Germany, shared camps, and generations of young people building friendships that have stood the test of time.
As the article beautifully puts it, this friendship has built “bridges between countries, cultures and people.” Despite different languages and backgrounds, the spirit of Scouts — friendship, respect, trust, and adventure — has kept us connected for half a century.

This year’s visit saw 31 young people and 14 leaders from Wales spend time in Germany, enjoying campfires, songs, exchanging neckers, exploring the local area, and continuing a tradition that means so much to so many.

A huge thank you to our friends in Hemer for their warm welcome and hospitality. Here’s to many more years of friendship, adventure, and international Scouting together.
50 years strong — and still growing. 💛⚜️
