Recognising our September winner - Alison Williams 💫

This month, we’re delighted to recognise Alison for the incredible difference she makes to the people around her.

For years, Alison has voluntarily run a chair-based exercise group for around 20 people every Wednesday morning. What started as an exercise class has become so much more than that, it has become a place where people feel welcome, supported and valued.

The group is a wonderfully friendly bunch, and everyone thinks the world of Alison. She has created an environment where people feel comfortable opening up, sharing personal troubles and knowing that they will be listened to with kindness and complete confidence.

And the morning doesn't end when the exercise class does.
The group stays behind for a cuppa, biscuits and a chat and those simple moments of friendship and connection that can mean so much.

For the years of time, care and kindness she has given to others, we think Alison is incredibly deserving of recognition.

Congratulations, Alison and thank you for everything you do!

Recognising We Are Plas Madoc 💙

This month, we’re proud to recognise We Are Plas Madoc for the incredible work they do at the heart of their community.

Since becoming a registered charity in 2021, We Are Plas Madoc has been dedicated to improving opportunities and quality of life for residents of Plas Madoc and the surrounding communities — particularly those facing social, economic, educational or health inequalities.

But their work is about so much more than projects and services. It’s about people.

By listening to residents, building on the skills and strengths already within the community, and creating opportunities for people to get involved and have a voice, We Are Plas Madoc is helping to create lasting, positive change from within.

Their vision is simple but powerful: a community where people feel confident, proud, safe and supported, where neighbours look after one another and everyone has the opportunity to be involved.

That commitment to community, connection and creating a better future is exactly why they deserve recognition.

Congratulations to We Are Plas Madoc and to everyone who continues to make a difference every day. 👏

Lovely words for our August recognition winner, Luke Kettlewell! 🎉

"I wanted to take a moment to recognise someone who has been an incredible source of support throughout my time in office as Mayor.

Luke has served as the Mayor's Attendant for the past 15 years, and from May 2024 to May 2025, he was my attendant during my year as Mayor. He also supported me throughout my time as Deputy Mayor from 2023 to 2024.

His commitment to the Mayoralty has been nothing short of exceptional. His knowledge of Wrexham, its people, and Mayoral protocol is second to none. Wrexham County Borough Council is incredibly fortunate to have someone of his dedication, professionalism and experience.

Luke is known and respected across the Borough. He is held in the highest regard by past Mayors, colleagues and residents alike, and nothing is ever too much trouble for him.

On a personal note, he looked after both myself and my Consort with such kindness, care and consideration throughout the year. As a lady in my senior years, his support and thoughtfulness never went unnoticed. He is a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

It really is time that Luke received the recognition he so richly deserves. Thank you, Luke, for everything you do, not just for the Mayor, but for Wrexham. You are truly one of a kind."

Congratulations Luke!

Another FJones Organisation Recognition goes to Ady Jones Tae-Kwon-Do Academy. 🥋

This recognition goes to Ady Jones, founder of Art Jones Tae-Kwon-Do.

After many years working at Kellogg's, Ady dedicated himself to building a
Tae-Kwon-Do School that has become so much more than a place to learn martial arts. Throughout his own competitive career, he has achieved success at both national and international level, and recently reached the incredible milestone of earning his 9th Dan - a grade that takes eight years to progress to from 8th Dan, reflecting decades of dedication and commitment.

What makes Ady truly deserving of this recognition is the impact he has beyond the classes.
He regularly gives up his own time to visit local primary schools, introducing children to Tae-Kwon-Do while promoting far more than self-defence. He speaks about self-belief,
confidence, resilience and mental wellbeing, as well as educating young people on bullying.
Ady continually encourages his students to become the best versions of themselves. Through sport, they not only improve their fitness and learn valuable self-defence skills, but also develop respect, discipline and confidence that will stay with them throughout life.
Despite all of his achievements, Ady remains incredibly humble. He works tirelessly for every one of his pupils and is always willing to go the extra mile.

Most recently, he even set himself a personal fundraising challenge to support one of his students during their journey with leukaemia, a true reflection of the care and commitment he has for those around him.

For his dedication, selflessness and the positive difference he makes within the local community, Ady Jones is a truly deserving recipient of this FJones Organisation Recognition.
Thank you, Ady, for everything you do.

With more than 40 years in the hairdressing industry, Nat has built an outstanding reputation for his expertise and professionalism. However, it is the work he now undertakes that truly sets him apart. Specialising in wigs for people experiencing hair loss, particularly women undergoing chemotherapy, Nat provides far more than a hair replacement service – he offers comfort, dignity, confidence and hope.

Inspired by his own family's experience with cancer, Nat has created a safe, welcoming and understanding environment where clients can feel supported during an incredibly vulnerable chapter of their lives. He understands that losing your hair is about far more than appearance; it can have a profound impact on confidence, identity and emotional wellbeing. His kindness, empathy and patience help people regain a sense of themselves when they need it most.

Nat is also the local representative for the Little Princess Trust, supporting children experiencing hair loss by helping provide specialist wigs through this incredible national charity. His work with young people and their families demonstrates the same compassion and care that defines everything he does.
Every person who walks through Nat's door is treated with respect, understanding and genuine kindness. He takes the time to listen, reassure and guide families through a process that can often feel overwhelming. His wealth of experience, combined with his calm and caring approach, makes an immeasurable difference to those facing illness and its effects.

For many, Nat is not simply a hairdresser. He becomes a trusted source of support, someone who helps restore confidence, self-esteem and a sense of normality at a time when life feels anything but normal.
His dedication extends far beyond his profession. He quietly changes lives every day without seeking recognition, simply because he cares deeply about the people he helps. For his decades of service, his incredible generosity is a reminder that sometimes the greatest acts of kindness are the quietest, and his impact on our community is truly immeasurable.

Today, we would like to congratulate Kelly from Skin Aesthetics UK on the incredible work she continues to undertake for our community and for cancer patients across the UK.

Following her mother's cancer diagnosis and through her own personal hardships, Kelly has channelled her experiences into creating something truly remarkable. After more than three years of development, research and patient-focused care, she has launched Beyond The Scar™ - an innovative clinical protocol designed to support cancer patients through free scar revision treatments.

As the first clinic in the UK to offer this service completely free of charge to cancer patients, Beyond The Scar™ goes far beyond aesthetics. It is about restoring confidence, supporting emotional wellbeing and helping individuals feel comfortable in their own skin following life-changing treatment.

What makes this initiative even more powerful is Kelly's commitment to sharing the protocol with other clinics, creating a pathway for practitioners across the country to deliver the same compassionate, evidence-based care to those who need it most. This is a shining example of how one person's determination, compassion and vision can create a lasting impact on countless lives.

Congratulations, Kelly. Wrexham should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved, and we look forward to seeing the positive difference Beyond The Scar™ continues to make both locally and nationally.
