Today on Recovery In Focus - Recovery Toolkits and Photography PHONEdamentals

This morning we explored the cycle of addiction, used photos to express what our goals for the near future are and looked at what recovery tools can help us to say no to temptations and stay abstinent.

In the afternoon we looked at the fundamentals of phone-based photography (‘phonedamentals’, i’m trademarking this one! - Lucke 😂)

We’re very excited for our next shoot in Llandudno next week to have the group put the ‘phonedamentals‘ to use.

Metaphor hunting in Colwyn Bay with Recovery In Focus 📸

It was the groups first shoot day, and we’ve never had a group so trigger happy! 😃

The group got to see how lighting changed their shots with conditions changing from overcast to sunny.

The group also discovered how Colwyn Bay is the hub for photography in North Wales and received a tour the gallery at Colwyn from the ever so brilliant curator Paul Sampson.

Thank you to Andy Dunbobbin - North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner, Max and Matthew from the Comisiynydd Heddlu a Throsedd Gogledd Cymru / PCC North Wales for joining with us on the day, where they could get a taste of RIF of which they have funded with their Pathways to Recovery Fund.

Wales' first ever Recovery Festival! Come take a look at what went down 😎

We were so proud to be a part of the festival, working on the organising panel, and loved covering this landmark day for recovery in Wales.

Thank you to everyone attending and to the rest of the organising panel who made it such a great debut festival.

Great to have JP from Detox Factor join the crew on this one too 🤟

“I didn’t know my phone could do that!” – Said by many, many times today 😁

Recovery In Focus, our therapeutic photography project, is off to a great start with a new Wrexham-based group.

In preparation for our location-based photoshoot next week, we looked at what all our phones could do with their camera apps and how to get the best out of it.

You're a legend Wulf!

A predictably brilliant academic swan song from our friend Wulf Livingston, Professor of Alcohol Studies at Wrexham University with his public lecture 'S*x & Drugs & Rock & Roll'.

Marcus couldn't make it as he was at North Wales Recovery Communities, which goes full circle with the impact you make to the recovery community with your trusteeship of NWRC.

No doubt we'll see you again up on the Snowdonia hills some time soon!

⚠️ NEW PRISON FILM SERIES PREMIERE – THE WORKING WEEK EPISODE 4 of 4 ⚠️

This series saw us visit HM Prisons and forward thinking businesses up and down the UK.

These community 1st spirited organisations are offering people serving prison sentences opportunities to work on themselves and their skillset on the inside, so that they become far more employable and potentially secure work before they're released.

In this 4-part series, we explore how and why businesses in the UK are choosing to work in HM Prisons with people doing time, and what the results have been so far.
This fourth and final episode features Richie, an inmate in recovery from addiction working for NiCo (as featured in episode 3). Richie explains how The Working Week has helped him stay clean and sober during his time in prison and how he has been offered a job with NiCo once his sentence has been served.
