CI Hammond is the squadron's Training Officer and arrived last year. Since then she appears to only really speak about three things:
Her dog,
Squadron training plans
and her Lowland Expedition Leader course.

CI Hammond is constantly on the hunt for new cadet experiences and how to bring more outdoor experiences to the squadron.

As a volunteer, she's both supporting cadets and learning new skills for herself.

Here again at 35(Wetherby)Squadron
Today’s staff post is to introduce the lead member of staff our very own Flt Lt Thomas, our officer commanding (OC).
The person who's into every aspect of the squadron, from organising job roles to teaching the young and old minds of staff and cadets.
He encourages our awesome staff and cadets to excel and push through gaining once of a lifetime skill sets not many get the chance to spend time up in the sky flying and time down in the mud doing field craft like map reading and basha building.
It’s not all drills and learning, there is sports-nights and social events like padel club, ice skating and the odd bbq.
Flt Lt Thomas is very welcoming to all and welcomes anyone from ages of 12 and up to come join the squadron. OUR open evening to get to know staff and cadets, and grab an application form to join our lovely squadron is on the Monday 7th September 2026

Here at 35 (Wetherby) Squadron we like to show appreciation to our staff as well as our ever growing cadets.
This evenings post and staff member is CI Wilson who ran the London marathon 2026.
CI Wilson shared after completion that he was very tired, sweaty and in need of cold refreshments.
He ran the London Marathon to raise funds for St Gemma’s Hospice in loving memory of his mum Hilary.
So far CI Wilson has raised a staggering £1641 from his generous supporters.
So from Flt Lt Thomas and all the 35th Squadron staff, Cadets and Civcom members a big round of applause and well done to CI Wilson.

Our open evening for new cadets is Monday 9th Feb at 7.15pm at our Wetherby building.
Come and see what we do, try activities for yourself and get your cadet journey started.

Open to all from year 8 upwards.
Make friends outside of school, get active and engaged, do new things, go to exciting places.
