Deplorable !!
When a volunteer group of 62 years standing who selflessly provide time and energy for the benefit of all, have been faced with council attempting rip off tactics.

And so it begins this Sunday 1st Nov for the outdoor teams (soft start)

17/10/2026

The season starts very soon for our team - in fact soon after the Remembrance weekend we will be out on the street.
Beforehand there are certain backroom jobs to carry out.
With this in mind, and just a couple of items - dressing the trees in lights is an oft’ forgotten part of the operation and is purely workshop based - great friendly atmosphere in a dry workspace. This is during the week and on a couple of weekend mornings - and if you’ve electricity running thro your veins we’d be interested too since the ‘lit big features’ get a dust off and check in the days before they come out onto the streets.
Ladder teams and hands on gang members of course are at the visible front line of our community efforts that bring brightness to Wetherby’ streets.

🌼 Wetherby in Bloom Needs More Watering Volunteers for 2027!

Every year we sadly lose a few of our wonderful waterers, and to keep Wetherby looking as colourful and welcoming as ever we really do need more helping hands for the 2027 season.

Our two watering teams are out every evening between 5.00 pm and 7.30 pm, keeping the town’s floral displays looking their best. If you’re passing through the town centre at that time, please stop for a chat — they’ll happily explain what’s involved and perhaps you might like to join a watering team this year so that you can be a regular team member in 2027. We can arrange a practice session during the remaining weeks of this year's rota on an evening to suit you.
If you’re not usually in town during the evening, you can find our contact details on our website:
Or simply send us a direct message here on Facebook.

Wetherby’s flowers don’t water themselves — we rely on our volunteers, and we’d love to welcome a few new faces this year. Please think about helping us keep the town blooming beautifully.

💛 Thank you for supporting Wetherby in Bloom.

The work behind the scenes never stops.

You thought it was all over!
Work goes on behind the scenes to fix and prepare our lights for Xmas 2026. Where would we be without our volunteers? 👏👏👏👏👏👏
