You asked, we delivered… the most popular activity request from the explorers was to go climbing. Thanks to the new HANDS climbing team, and Paul and Matthew, they’ve had a superb day climbing at Armscliffe Crag

We’ve been a bit quiet for the past few weeks - many of the explorers have been busy with exams but this weekend eight of us have had a brilliant couple of days up at The North Yorkshire Scouts water sports activity centre at Ellerton
Not many pictures as we were all on the water all day on Saturday, sailing, SUPing, kayaking or canoeing. It was hot hot hot and some suffered a little (lessons have been learned but waterproof suncream is only somewhat waterproof)
Today we were the only group there and we had the choice of activities. More SUP and kayaking was the decision, followed by some relay races. It was too windy to sail as a beginner so I managed some pictures later on.
The new camping field as Ellerton is great and the staff at the centre fun and enthusiastic. Thanks to the Ellerton crew!

Thanks to all of you who turned up for St George’s day parade. Looking smart as ever, our presence was impressive, and your attendance is well noted.
Welcome to Andrew, Indi and Arthur who had a rapid investiture to ensure they had the correct necker for the parade!

Calling all Explorers with a passion for media and communications! We have an exciting new opportunity beginning with our taster event, Amplify, at the end of May.

During this event you'll explore a range of media types and skills including social media, photography, and interviewing to help you gain practical knowledge and insight into how effective media is created and used. Working with our media and communications experts, you'll begin to understand what it takes to plan, produce, and deliver high-quality content.

Following the event there'll be the opportunity to join a team where you'll get to continue developing these skills and put them into practice by creating media for and representing North Yorkshire Scouts.

Limited spaces - book here: www.nysevents.co.uk/events/details/nys/amp26

So, we’re coming into exam season and only two explorers came on the Malham hike 😥. Tom said it was beautiful - Malham Cove, the Limestone Pavement, Malham Tarn, Goredale Scar and Janet’s Foss with much deserved ice creams at the end. Thanks to Richard, Matthew, Tom, and Owen’s dad, for organising and/or accompanying the two lads. Four adults to two explorers 😳
Let us know what activities you want to do - if this hike wasn’t to your liking, tell us what is!

Today the explorers have been caving with Dan from Live for Today. It sounded like a brilliant trip (I was at a 4 year old’s birthday party 😁) with Dan complementing on how good the explorers were. Thanks to Matthew and Richard for looking after them.

I know some of our explorers are at that stage in their lives when you are thinking more long term towards life post-education.
It was mentioned at the end of our session with Yorkshire Dales Millenium trust that they offer apprenticeships in conservation work.
Have a look at their website to see what this involves and where it might get you

Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust's Rural Apprenticeship scheme gives young people the chance to develop their skills and get experience with employers in and around the Yorkshire Dales, Cumbria and Nidderdale.
