Drovers’ Day Sunday 14th June – Monies Raised.

Drovers’ Day is a celebration of local history and tradition, brought to life through music and community spirit.

While the event is well attended and widely enjoyed, it also involves significant costs. As a result, Wetherby District Lions do not generate substantial funds from Drovers’ Day alone.

However, as with all of our events, any money raised is carefully distributed to support individuals, local groups, and charitable causes within our district. As a registered charity, Lions clubs do not make a profit—our members are volunteers who freely give their time to serve the community.

And just to be clear - the picture is not our real 🦁treasurer!

If you believe we may be able to assist an individual or a group, or indeed if you would like to join our pride, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

We look forward to a great day full of music and memories.

Wetherby, do not worry about roads being repaired on Drovers' Day!

The contractors will replace the existing signs with 'ROAD CLOSED'

The organisers thank you for your patience and cooperation on 14th June when Bank Street, North Street and High Street will be closed to traffic between 11:30 and 16.30

Little Bird Markets will be part of the fantastic Drovers Day in Wetherby on Sunday 14th June 2026 — a vibrant annual cultural gala and community festival celebrating the town’s rich heritage as a historic droving stop.

The day is set to be an incredible celebration with the famous Brass Band Marching Contest, filling the streets with music and atmosphere, alongside our bustling monthly artisan street market.

We’re really looking forward to being part of this brilliant community event. We also have a couple of pitches now become available for traders who would like to join us.

The Sue Ryder Mascot Gold Cup 2026
Wetherby Racecourse 26th April.

A somewhat nervous tremor ran through the 76 other competitors when two Wetherby Lions were spotted prowling around. Peter Rabbit and a few of the smaller animals were especially worried but Ronnie the Rhino and Justin Beaver were not in the least concerned!
However, despite months of training and a suitable diet, visual impairment cost them the race – they couldn’t see where they were going!
Clarence and Simba, see here before the race, nevertheless completed the course – that is they strolled up the course chatting, missed all the jumps and picked up their medals.
