URGENT CALL FOR HELP - families coming to see Santa this Saturday

Would any families be willing to be filmed explaining how important these sessions are for our children? Enchantica’s have a videographer available on 30 November and capturing comments will help us secure future funding to ensure this event can continue

Many thanks

***UPDATE - all spaces have now been allocated for 1st December - those with spaces have been sent a link to book. Only 20 spaces left on 14 December. Lots of availability still on 30 November currently - but be quick!! ***. Also - please kindly only request for parents / carers needed for the children and siblings as requests for wider family members reduces the number of children who get to experience the magic 🙏❤️🙏

Thank you all for your patience, we can now take bookings onto our three accessible Enchantica’s shows to meet Father Christmas and Tinsel the Elf at Cedar Court Hotel!

The sessions will take place on:
Saturday 30 November 930am
Sunday 1st December 3pm
Saturday 14 December 930am

Sadly we have not had our usual level of sponsors in the current economic climate but we also want to keep sessions available to everyone regardless of financial circumstance - so if you do secure a place and have the means to, it would be wonderful if you could make a small donation to the crowdfunding campaign to run these shows.

We have restricted numbers at the shows to make them as accessible as possible - we are limited to 60 seats and spaces for 5 wheelchair / pushchair spaces (pushchairs which don’t need to be used can be kept outside to give all of the children enough space to relax and move around when they need to)

To get booking details, please email [email protected]. It is very important that you state number of guests but also whether you need one of the five wheelchair / pushchair spaces. Please also ensure you state which performance you would ideally like to attend.

Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis of when emails are received (noting that the inbox is not monitored 24/7).

Many thanks and hope to see many of you there!! x

A repost from 2018 which holds even more true as I face trick or treating with someone over six foot and sporting a beard tomorrow 😂!!! Always please take a beat before passing judgement - we have had some terrible experiences over the years 🤞wish us luck!! And good luck to all of our families - never let others limit your child’s world ❤️

It took my son years to engage with trick or treating - the scary costumes and unfamiliar customs can be overwhelming - and then there are so many unwritten ‘rules’ to learn (not ringing the doorbell incessantly / not walking straight inside a stranger’s house as soon as they open their door (!) / learning not to grab an entire fistful of goodies).

We have practised these skills over the years and he now loves taking part - but one thing we cannot rehearse is the response from the other side of the door: the disapproving stares or comments all those years he was non verbal and unable to say a greeting, or later when he was eventually mastering some language but still grappling with social skills and so needed prompts to say thank you; last year when an adult mocked his speech (I had made the mistake of letting him go up to the front doors alone as he had been progressing so well 😞). And this year he is even bigger and I fear some people may feel he is too old to be trick or treating anymore.

If you are kind enough to open your door this Halloween, please bear in mind it takes some of our children a little longer to get to where they want to be - thank you for your patience and understanding xx

PS Artwork by my now Halloween-loving son! 😍

🎄GLOW ACCESSIBLE SESSIONS - BOOKINGS OPEN 🎄We are delighted that RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Harrogate is once again supporting our local families living with different abilities to access quieter, inclusive and accessible sessions of their magical GLOW illuminated trail this Christmas time.

There are two exclusive sessions where families who benefit from reduced numbers of visitors and lowered sensory input due to neurodiversity or disability can access the gardens for half an hour before the general public sessions start (you are more than welcome to stay as long as you like - the gardens close at 8.30pm).

The dates are Saturday 30 November and Saturday 7 December at 4.30pm. Bookings can be made via the following link (note that one carer per child and the under fives are free of charge):

We look forward to welcoming returning and new Unity families for what has become an enchanting annual tradition for many. Thank you as always to the wonderful team at Harlow Carr for making this possible xx
