🍎 Make your way to the Wells Cathedral Cider & Cheese Festival on Saturday 26 September 2026!

🧀 It's easy to find and open from 12pm to 9pm, with live music throughout the day, plus entertainment for the kids from Wookey Hole Caves, giant garden games, and the additional option of a bouncy castle assault course in the Camery Garden and an ice cream van, making this a perfect event for all ages!

Please join us in prayer for Nepal and Tibet, as we join the Archbishop of Canterbury, Sarah Mullally, who has shared this prayer:

I am praying for all those affected by the devastating flash floods in Nepal and Tibet.

I pray for those who are grieving, and for those who are still waiting for news of their missing loved ones. I pray for the emergency workers in the region, operating in immensely difficult conditions to rescue people and bring relief. I pray too for those who are injured, and for the doctors and nurses working tirelessly to bring healing and rebuild lives.

Into the hands of our loving God, and in the name of Jesus Christ, I place all those who watch, wait and weep. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

🖌️ Exciting work is well underway for the Vicars' Close Project, a once-in-a-generation opportunity to save the oldest continuously inhabited medieval street in Europe, still used for its original purpose. Thank you to National Lottery players and The National Lottery Heritage Fund for making this amazing project possible.

👀 If we take a peek behind the front door of Number 12, we can see the team are busy decorating the different rooms a variety of period styles, to reflect the many layers of history the street has lived through.

The Finance Department plays a vital role in supporting the life, mission and operations of Wells Cathedral. We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join the team and help ensure the efficient stewardship of the Cathedral’s financial resources.

We are seeking someone with excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships across departments. Whether you are already working in a finance role or looking to develop your accounting career further, this position offers the chance to gain valuable experience within one of England’s most significant Cathedrals.
