The CPA welcomes ASCNB member fees update

Following representations from the Care Provider Alliance, representative bodies and providers, DHSC has confirmed that, on the employer side, the 11 representatives appointed to the ASCNB will be able to claim up to £300 per negotiation day. The fee is in addition to other expenses, such as travel.

The CPA welcomes this important change, which responds to concerns raised about capacity, cost and backfill, particularly for smaller providers.

Applications for the CPA Employer Reference Group and employer negotiating roles remain open until 23:59 on 8 November.

If the time commitment previously made you think you could not take part, please look again.

Cyber security alert, check your website is safe!
You may have seen in recent news that cyber security researchers have discovered vulnerabilities in a widely used scripting language PHP. BBC article - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3qjnwye0ep5o

There are a number of products that integrate PHP into their services, such as WordPress, Drupal and Joomla.

If your organisation operates a website, then you may be affected. Where your website is managed by an external IT provider then you should check whether they are aware of the vulnerability and push them to remediate and follow the advice issued by NCSC.

If you manage your own website and use PHP, then NCSC have published actions you should be taking where you are affected - https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/news/critical-security-issue-affecting-php

Further details can also be found on NHS England’s website - https://digital.nhs.uk/cyber-alerts/2026/cc-4875

Successful exploitation of CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 could allow an unauthenticated attacker to execute code remotely or access sensitive memory

The RCPA was delighted to accept a formal invitation shared by Shelly Mullen, Somerset LSIP Business Engagement Manager from HM Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset to a recent event Unlocking Somerset Talent, at the fabulous Waterside Country Barn at Mill House, Bradford on Tone where a scrumptious lunch was served by local apprentices. The event run jointly between Somerset Chamber of Commerce and Passion for Somerset, was about turning potential into opportunity, and helping Somerset businesses understand the different routes available to them to recruit, develop, and retain their future workforce. Building on the LSIP findings, Unlocking Somerset Talent showcased practical ways employers can widen their recruitment pipeline, develop the skills they need, and create clear pathways to successful careers in Somerset. 100 pledges were made on the day. The RCPA is working with local partners and stakeholders in this important area with support for recruitment and retention in the adult social care sector - Working in care is more than a job, it’s a career with huge potential and lifelong opportunities! Hilary@ the RCPA met with Holly Stockdale, Locality Manager Southwest at Skills for Care and Laira Pearson, Assistant Principal for Health Professional and Group Adults at University Centre Somerset (UCS) where we pledged to commit to a social care career taskforce - ‘operation waterside’
