What a fantastic day at the recent Yeovil 4 Family Summer Fete! πŸŽ‰

Judy and Jenn had a wonderful time meeting young people and their families, sharing information about our Yeovil Youth Hub and the wide range of support, opportunities and services available through Young Somerset across South Somerset.

It was great to connect with so many members of the local community and have conversations about how we can support young people to thrive. We also loved meeting the team from Owl Obsession UK.

, learning more about their amazing owls and hearing how they engage with families and community groups across the area.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to play a game of UNO, build a racetrack with the Jenga set and to have a chat. It was a brilliant day filled with community spirit, new connections and lots of smiles! πŸ’š

Donations continue to play a vital role in enabling Young Somerset to deliverflexible, responsive support. πŸ’™πŸ’š

While commissioned services form the majority of our income, unrestricted funding allows us to innovate, respond quickly to emerging needs, and invest in early intervention. These contributions, from individuals, community groups, and local supporters, have directly enhanced our ability to support young people across Somerset.

These examples highlight how targeted funding can create tangible, meaningful outcomes for young people and families. Please head to https://www.youngsomerset.org.uk/donate/ to find out more.

An important message from Open Mental Health ahead of the bank holiday weekend. πŸ’›πŸ‘‡

Bank holidays can mess up our routines and leave us feeling a little overwhelmed. If we are struggling with our mental health, we might worry that our only options over the long weekend are waiting for an urgent doctor’s appointment or a trip to a busy Accident and Emergency department.

There is a calmer first step. Open Mental Health offers support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure that anyone struggling with poor mental health can access the right support at the right time.

πŸ’› Mindline Somerset: If you need a friendly voice, our confidential telephone service is ready to listen day or night. Call anytime on 01823 276892 or freephone 0800 138 1692.

πŸ’› Crisis Safe Space: When things feel really overwhelming, you don’t have to endure it alone. You can arrange a one-to-one sessionβ€”face-to-face, by phone, or virtuallyβ€”to help you through distressing times. Ring the numbers above or visit: https://bit.ly/crisis-safe-space-somerset

πŸ’› Live Chat: If you prefer not to talk on the phone, our Live Web Chat is available every day at https://bit.ly/omh-website.

Our Umbrella groups from Wellington, Taunton and Bridgwater had a lovely day in the sun recently at beautiful Kilve Beach. 🌊 They completed a Photo Scavenger Hunt and here are some of the results! πŸ“Έ

The group cooked on the BBQ, enjoyed the ocean, painted pebbles, made a pebble tower, made a fire, learned how to use flint and steel and then cooked marshmallows on it. An all action day! πŸ’™πŸ’š

Umbrella provides group-based support for young people experiencing
emotional distress. The programme creates safe, supportive environments that
encourage peer connection and positive change. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.

Welcome to Young Somerset’s Impact Report for 2025–2026. πŸ’™πŸ’š

This year has once again demonstrated both the strengths of young people across Somerset and the challenges many continue to face.

At Young Somerset, our role is clear. We meet young people where they are, listen carefully to their experiences, and provide the right support at the right time. Read the report by heading to our LinkedIn page, and we would like to thank all those who we have worked alongside this year and have supported all our efforts with young people in Somerset.
