Don't forget ladies it's our October Coffee, Cake and Chat at Magdalenes Coffee Shop in Taunton Minster (St Mary Magdalene Church), Church Square, Taunton TA1 1SA.
It's from 10.30am Thursday 15th October. No need to book, just turn up. You don't have to have cake or coffee but a chat is compulsory!

What a fascinating talk at our meeting yesterday by Sally Smith, author of Women Who Went Round The World. We learned about 4 women who circumnavigated the world, one of them twice! One by boat, disguised as a boy; one by bicycle; one by train; and one by car, along with 3 passengers, 2 dogs, and a monkey.

We had a very enjoyable and entertaining meeting this week thanks to Mike Highfield of Mike's Music and Mayhem. He is so entertaining and passionate about all things apple and C***r related.

We learnt a lot about apples and the history of C***r making and enjoyed Mike's harmonium playing and folk songs. Sadly the chorus was sometimes too fast for us to join in, as you can tell from the short video clip.

Members of Taunton Early Birds WI had great fun learning how to play croquet. After picking up some tips and techniques, we put our new skills into practice with a few friendly games. There were plenty of laughs along the way, and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable morning. A huge thank you to Anne for organising and to the tutors for being so patient and encouraging! 🔵⚫️🔴🟡

Start your week with a hit — join us for an Early Birds morning of croquet on Monday, 13th July! Whether you're a first-timer or a croquet champion, come join us for laughs, light competition, and loads of fun in the sun. We are meeting at Leach's Field, Kingston St Mary, TA2 8JL at 10:00am. Please contact Anne if you need more details and a map showing how to get there.

A really fascinating talk by Bel Deering from Somerset Rivers Authority on how you can prepare for flooding and other emergency events. We learnt about how to find out about your local risk, how to protect your home, and what to do if you do find yourself in a flood. There were lots of practical ideas, a chance to look at different flood resilience products, and top tips on where to get cheap or even free help if your home is at risk. Top tip had to be about water butts and the difference they can make to you and your neighbours. Is there anyone out there with more water butts than Anne? She has seven! 🏆

It's our Early Birds June Meeting this Monday, 8th June.

Come along and find out all about 'Flooding in Somerset' – Weathering the Storms with Bel Deering, Somerset Rivers Authority

This talk looks at how you can prepare for flooding and other emergency events. You will find out about your local risk, how to protect your home, and what to do if you do find yourself in a flood. There are lots of practical ideas, a chance to look at different flood resilience products, and top tips on where to get cheap or even free help if your home is at risk. This talk is all about getting involved – so even if you think you and your own home are not at risk, come to this talk so you can spread the word to your friends and family elsewhere!

Guests and visitors are very welcome – your first visit to the Early Birds is free, your second costs just £5.00.

Don’t forget to bring your reusable cup for free tea and coffee.
