Our Mobile Advisory Service (MAS) travels around Somerset offering information, advice and aids for people with sight loss. We have lots of helpful gadgets and interesting resources on board!

Donna, our wonderful MAS operator, will be visiting the following locations this week. She would be delighted to see you there! No appointment needed. Plus Donna has a pair of the AI powered META glasses on board so please hop on if you would like a demo!

Wednesday 12th August - Minehead Morrisons - 10.30am to 3.30pm
Thursday 13th August - Glastonbury Morrisons - 10.30am to 3.30pm
Friday 14th August - Chard Hospital - 10.30am to 1.30pm

We are proud to be taking part in the Spark Somerset campaign where we shine a light on the numerous charities and organisations working hard and making a big difference in their communities.

So what would Wednesdays look like without Somerset Sight?
Well there would be no 'Dave's Diner' taking place at our Head Office in Taunton on the first Wednesday of the month.
Dave's Diner is a friendly lunch club - a welcoming space for people who are blind or visually impaired to come together, have lunch and connect with others in a supportive environment.

Did you know that we organise monthly Somerset Sight social groups all over the county - at fourteen different locations at last count! Our social groups are a place where you can meet people for a cup of tea and a chat. Often group members say that it is nice to speak to others with a sight condition and to swap ideas and share experiences. Please call us on 01823 333818 to find out more.

SOMERSET SIGHT TAUNTON WEEKLY FRIDAY CRAFT GROUP

£4 for two-hour session.
Includes tea/coffee, cake, all materials and assistance as needed.

Barge Art Pot Stand or Wall Hanger.
Using some simple techniques to create a brightly coloured design based on this traditional art style.

August 7th
Handmade Felt.
Make something decorative to wear (necklace or bracelet) or make into a key ring, or something of your own choice.

August 14th
Fabric Collage.
Using some simple techniques to create a fun decorative piece of collage, using a variety of materials.

August 21st
Nature Weaving.
Create a simple design with natural sticks and a variety of different yarns to weave across your frame.

August 28th
Cooking
Something sweet or savoury to take home with you.

We had an absolutely wonderful time last Friday watching The Taunton Thespians perform ‘Twelfth Night’ in aid of Somerset Sight.
Thank you so much to everyone who came along on the night. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! And a huge thank you to the Taunton Thespians for putting on such a wonderful performance.
