🔴 World AIDS Day Talk & Quiz - 28th November

30 Years of Effective HIV Treatment

Since 1996, advances in HIV treatment have transformed HIV from a life-limiting condition into a manageable long-term health condition. This World AIDS Day, join us for an informative and inspiring event celebrating progress in HIV treatment, raising awareness and challenging stigma.

We’ll be joined by Dr Jess Daniel from Swindon’s Sexual Health Clinic, alongside Joshua Anderson and Kathryn Alsbury, who will share their personal experiences of living with HIV.

There will also be a quiz to test your knowledge, with £10, £20 and £30 high street vouchers up for grabs!

Meet Our Speakers

🔴 Dr Jess Daniel

Dr Jess Daniel has been a consultant in Swindon since 2010, and working in GU Medicine since 2003. She is passionate about providing holistic care for all her patients living with HIV and has implemented opt-out HIV testing at Great Western Hospital in order to normalise testing and reduce late diagnosis in Swindon.

🔴 Joshua Anderson

Joshua Anderson has been living with HIV for 12 years, he is an activist and volunteers in the HIV sector, helping run peer support groups, providing one on one support, and educating others about HIV.

🔴 Kathryn Alsbury

Kathryn Alsbury was diagnosed aged 20 in 1992 and is now sharing her story to fight the stigma and shame that led to her keeping her HIV diagnosis a secret for over 30 years. She is an activist, public speaker and HIV educator.

Join us on the 28th November at the Pride Hub to learn, listen, challenge stigma and celebrate the progress made in HIV treatment, while helping to create a more informed and supportive community.

This As*xual Awareness Week, we’re celebrating as*xual people, raising awareness, and helping to build a world where everyone feels seen, respected, and accepted.

💜 What is as*xuality?

As*xuality (often shortened to ace) is a s*xual orientation characterised by experiencing little or no s*xual attraction to others. As*xuality is a spectrum, and everyone’s experience is unique. Some as*xual people experience romantic attraction, have relationships, or enjoy physical affection, while others experience things differently.

🖤 Let's challenge the myths.

Being as*xual is not a choice, a phase, or something that needs to be fixed. It is a valid s*xual orientation, and as*xual people deserve the same respect, understanding, and acceptance as everyone else.

🤍 How can you show support?
✨ Listen to as*xual people and believe their experiences.
✨ Challenge stereotypes and misconceptions.
✨ Respect everyone's identity, boundaries, and choices.
✨ Learn about as*xuality and share accurate information.
✨ Help create inclusive spaces where everyone can be themselves.

Remember: Different Attractions. Same Dignity. Equal Respect.

Let's make as*xuality more visible, encourage open and respectful conversations, and remind every ace person that they belong, just as they are.

Today we celebrate International Pronouns Day, a global campaign dedicated to making the sharing and respecting of personal pronouns commonplace.

Pronouns like she/her, he/him, and they/them are small but powerful words that form a core part of our identity and dignity.

For many LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially transgender and gender-diverse people. Using the correct pronouns is essential for mental health and a true sense of belonging.

You can easily practice allyship today by adding your pronouns to your bio, politely asking others for theirs, or simply correcting yourself if you make a mistake.

🌈 Join us for a Q***r History Meet-Up! 🌈

As part of our We Were Always Here project, we’ve booked tables at The Hop Inn from 6.30pm on Thursday 5th November, and we'd love you to come along.

If you were part of, or connected to, Wiltshire’s LGBTQIA+ community before 2014, you may have memories, stories or insights that could help us uncover and preserve local q***r history. Or perhaps you'd simply like to meet others, share a drink, and hear about some of the fascinating hidden history we've already discovered.

You'll find us at the big table near the garden doors.

📍 The Hop Inn has its own place in local LGBTQIA+ history. Back when it was known as The Fountain, it was considered a "gay pub" and hosted meetings of the Swindon Gay Community Organisation throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

Everyone is welcome. We hope to see you there!

🟣 Spirit Day 2026

On Thursday 15th October, millions of people throughout the world will wear purple to stand against bullying and support le***an, gay, bis*xual, transgender, and q***r (LGBTQ+) youth.

Here at Swindon & Wiltshire Pride we want to tell every young person that it's okay to be who you are, no matter your background, race, religion, ability, s*xual orientation, or gender identity.

As we hold our AGM tonight and transition into our 2027 Swindon and Wiltshire Pride Committee, we have some goodbyes to those who are leaving!

We say a goodbye to Leo who has been our Sponsorship and Merchandise Manager, Sam who was our Communications Manager, Hannah who looked after the socials as Social Media Manager and Abbie whose role was a content creator! We also want to say bye to Heather as Pride Hub Manager and Pidg who managed our accessibility and inclusion! Lastly we say goodbye to Rich who held the Website Manager and Trustee position!

Thank you for all the time you have volunteered for our charity over the years and good luck for whatever is next, can’t wait to see you all at Pride on the other side next year 👀👏🏼
