We shoot in the Swindon & District League and meet every Sunday evening to practice at The Purton Club, Purton.

We welcome all, age 12 and up to come along and try your hand at indoor target shooting.

**Important Announcement**

Practice days and times at the Purton Club are changing for the spring/summer period, commencing with immediate effect.

Days and times are as follow -

April
Friday 17th from 18:00 – 21:00hrs.
Saturday 25th from 18:00hrs – 21:00hrs.

May
Friday 1st from 18:00 – 21:00hrs.
Thursday 7th from 18:00 – 21:00hrs.
Thursday 14th from 18:00 – 21:00hrs.
Thursday 21st from 18:00 – 21:00hrs.
Thursday 28th from 18:00 – 21:00hrs.

After this date practise will move to a Wednesday evening 18:00 – 21:00hrs, this will be in effect from Wednesday the 3rd of June to Wednesday the 2nd of September.

Brown Jack B's (and A's!) Match Report! 🐝

Last night our opponents for the last league match of the season were our club friends the Brown Jack A's.

Usually the closest of allies we were pitted against each other in a battle of wills! The B's with 10 and the A's with a full quota of 12 we battled hard and didn't give up until the last shot was fired.

Alas, the A's were too strong for us and were victorious in all categories. However, despite this there were still some amazing scores and a total of 4 possibles overall! 🎯

Here's a round up from both sides:

36 from Kaelin - having only been to one practice this was great for his first league match 👏

57 - Ashley showing all that hard work is paying off

58's - from both Lucy and Jack, consistent as always

59's - from both Tommy and Finley, our juniors shining again

60's - Jen (back from a bit of a break), Chris, Ellie and Maxx - an absolutely awesome way to end the season! 🤩

Well done to all that competed. Now to look forward to competitions! 🎯 🏆

Brown Jack B's match report! 🐝

Last night’s 'home' fixture against Rodbourne Cheney was staged at the opposition's venue. A big effort from the team shooting on 'away' territory!

Both teams were short; Rodbourne Cheney with 10 and us with 9 still making it a big ask for the ten's and twelve's. We fought hard, had some amazing scores and ended up winning the sixes and were only 1 away on the ten's and twelve's! 🎯

To round up the best of the night:

Christian - a PB both in practice and a league match (and he's only been with us for a few months) - 58! 👏

Emma - happening a bit more regularly now - 58! 👏

Tommy - consistent as ever - 59! 👏

Lucy - back to her best - 60! 🤩

S&DARL Swindon Open 2026

This year’s Swindon Open shoot competition, sponsored by Lambourn ARC, is taking place on Sunday the 26th of April 2026 at Lambourn Sports Club, RG17 8PS.

Brown Jack B's match Report! 🐝

Last night saw us at an away match at VWH Haydon Wick. Despite building our team pool, many are still unable to make it regularly so once again we were down to 10.

However, some pulled it out of the bag and we fought a good fight! We unfortunately did not come away with any wins but there was still some exceptional scores from some:

Wesley - only his second league match and a massive improvement on the last. One to watch next season - 43! 👏

Bev - coming back to some of her usual form - 57! 👏

Lucy - as always, leading from the front - 58! 👏

and finally.......

Tommy - his second in a row and 3rd of the season - 60! 🤩

A massive thank you to VWH for hosting and putting on a most welcome spread!

Brown Jack Bs Match Report! 🐝

Last night was our home match to RBL Stratton but due to our venue's availability it was held away at theirs. We are very grateful they were able to accommodate us.

Unfortunately once again we were short but with another new member we made up a team of 11 on the night.

We fought well and our star sixes shone, winning that category on the night! 👏

Mentions for the night include:

Wesley - somewhat commandeered for his first league match having had only been with us for a couple of weeks - an excellent 36! 👏

Rex - Continuing with his impressive streak and scoring higher every week - 55! 👏

And finally.....

Tommy - surprisingly only his second of the season but always showing us all how it's done - 60! 🤩

Well done to all that competed and thank you to RBL Stratton for another awesome evening. It was a pleasure as always!

British Open Air Gun Championships 2026!

2 of our Juniors, Finley and Tommy have been competing at the BOAG Championships, a 10m precision event held at The Lord Roberts Centre at Bisley.

There were 2 60 shot details shot over 2 days, Friday and Saturday.

Friday was aggregate 1 shot concurrently with the British Championship Junior Men Qualifier.

Finley scored 502.7 and Tommy scored a 534.4 which meant he qualified for the final in 8th place.

In the final he came away 7th overall! 👏

Saturday was aggregate 2 and both improved their scores with Finley scoring 533.4 and Tommy scoring 545.0. 🤩

We are still waiting for the final full results of the combined aggregate so I will update once we have them to see what position they ended up in their class.

It is great to see them gain experience and improve in these events. They have both done amazingly! Well done boys! 🥳

UPDATE

Out of the 11 competitors in D Class Tommy finished 5th and Finley finished 6th! Well done boys! We are very proud! 🤩

Brown Jack Bs Match Report! 🐝

Last night we were away to the Gas Club, a match I always look fondly upon as this was Tommy's and my first ever league match 2 years ago!

Unfortunately due to sickness, work commitments and holidays we could only produce a team of 8 but we wouldn't let that get us down. With only the sixes in sight we fought hard and considering most aren't usually up in the top six we did well to only be 7 points short.

As always there are some great scores to mention:

Rex - showing real improvement of late and managing this with a five - 52 👏

Archie - the fourth best scorer of the night with a cracking score compared to his average - 53 👏

Lucy - always leading the way - 57 👏

Emma - showing more consistency in competition - 58 👏

Tommy - not even using his own rifle, showing us all how it's done - 59 🤩

Well done team! 👏

As always a massive thank you to the Gas Club who also put on an amazing spread! 🥪

And I can't forget to say, Happy 80th Birthday to Brian from the Gas Club! 🥳🎂🎉

We had a fantastic day out today at the Newport & District Air Rifle League open shoot.

As always a huge thank you to everyone at Newport and District for what is always an exceptionally well run and attended event. It was brilliant to catch up with friends we hadn't seen in a while.

Thirteen of the team made our way over the bridge to Newport this morning, we always really enjoy the bell target shoots as it is not something we do often and it's great fun. Very well done to everyone who took home a trophy, medal, bottle or raffle prize!

Our results were as follows.

🎯 Whisky shoot - Georgia.

🎯 Rum shoot - Ian.

🎯 Team of 6 winners - Ian, Maxx, Ellie, Tommy, Chris and Mark D from New Century.

🎯 Junior overall winner - Maxx.

🎯 Ladies overall winner - Jacqui.

🎯 Group C runner up - Matt.

🎯 Group B runner up - Ashley
🎯 Group B winner- Jacqui.

🎯 Group A winner - Ian.

🎯 Overall open shoot runner up - Ian.

🎯 Saving the best for last was Jacqui who won the overall open shoot with a huge score of 96 out of a maximum of 100! That is incredible shooting and as far as we are aware the highest score shot at this open before!

Thank you once again to everyone who made the trip, we are already looking forward to the next one!

Hi all, a reminder that as most of the team are at the Newport Open shoot tomorrow there will be NO practice at the club. We will be back open again for practice on Sunday the 22nd of February.
