As we continue to grieve and pray in the wake of the tragic events at Big Church Festival, weโre aware of suffering and lament as an inevitable part of our lives โ whether weโre burdened with personal sorrows, responding to the disaster in Nepal and Tibet, or crying out for those caught up in global conflict.
The psalms, books and scriptures of lament offer us a way to give full expression to all weโre thinking and feeling, and an assurance that we can talk to God about our pain and entrust it to him.

God invites us to pour out our grief, trauma, questions and worries. He is present, walking with us in the darkest of valleys.
We can be totally honest, vulnerable and human because he sees everything, understands us intimately and cares more deeply than we can fathom. Nothing we feel or say can shock him or surpass the limits of his love, compassion and grace.
In our weakness and helplessness, we can cry out to him for strength and help. We can lean on the promises heโs made and his faithfulness in keeping them.
We can rest on the certainty of the hope we have in Jesus, trusting in his return and his power to redeem, restore and make everything new.
