What an incredible day. 🩵

Together, we raised an absolutely amazing £10,935 — more than double last year’s total. Something we could never have imagined when we first started planning this special day.

Wrag Barn was awash with blue, filled with laughter, stories old and new, familiar faces and new friendships. There were smiles, the odd tear, plenty of memories shared and, above all else, an overwhelming sense of love, support and appreciation in the room.

It was genuinely incredible to see so many people come together to honour Karl’s memory while supporting the amazing work of Pennyhooks Farm Trust.

Thank you to every single person who attended, volunteered, donated prizes, gave their time, contributed money, posted, shared or helped in any way whatsoever. Events like this simply don’t happen without an army of people behind them, and we are incredibly grateful to each and every one of you.

The generosity, kindness and support we have received throughout this journey has honestly been overwhelming. What started as an idea to get a group of people together in Karl’s memory turned into something far bigger and more special than we could ever have hoped for.

£10,935. Memories made. Stories shared. Karl remembered. 🩵

Please tag and share your photographs and videos from the day below — we’d love to see them all and keep the memories of what was truly a very special day alive.

Thank you all. From the bottom of our hearts. 🩵

Together, we really did make a difference.

Remember to always Be More Karl.

HOLE 18 ❤️

Here we are. The final hole.

We deliberately kept Hole 18 for Paula — Karl’s wife.

On November 3rd, Paula’s life was tipped upside down. Ripped apart. Completely shattered.

Karl and Paula’s love was something special. Not something you see every day. They were incredibly compatible in so many ways — Paula, the worrier, and Karl, the man who rarely let anything get to him.

Karl looked after Paula. I know many husbands look after their wives, but with Karl, it was different. His whole demeanour changed when she rang. He softened in her presence. He would wrap her up in his arms, protect her and simply look after her.

When I say Karl was Paula’s world, I genuinely mean it.

He was her world. Her soul. Her life. Her everything.

And he still is. He always will be.

I have never posted about Karl and Paula’s relationship, or Paula’s grief, before. Not because it isn’t important — quite the opposite. I’ve found it too difficult.

Difficult to witness such a beautiful, thoughtful, caring and kind soul have her entire world shattered in an instant.

From those very first hours, to speaking at Karl’s funeral, to witnessing her break her heart at Karl’s grave on his birthday — I am completely in awe of the incredible wife Paula is, and continues to be, to Karl.

In every moment, Karl is honoured.

His grave is a shrine to their love.

I don’t know where Paula has found the strength to keep going. Perhaps it comes from the love that Karl and Paula shared, the spiritual connection they have, and the incredibly happy memories they created together.

On the day we lost Karl, Paula gained three brothers, two sisters, and another Mum and Dad.

From watering her flowers while she’s away to walking through fire, there is absolutely nothing our family wouldn’t do to help Paula navigate a life she never imagined having to live without Karl.

They say that grief is the price we pay for love.

But even the language we use sometimes feels wholly inadequate.

Loss.

Such a gentle word. Too kind. Too soft.

Because what Paula is experiencing is not simply a loss. Loss suggests something misplaced, something that can perhaps one day be found again.

This is violent. Destructive. All-consuming.

It tears through the very fabric of the life you knew and leaves behind wreckage you somehow have to learn to exist within.

And when I say Paula’s loss is great, that doesn’t even come close to describing what it truly is.

It is huge. Colossal. Devastating. Earth-shattering. Mind-numbing.

Yet somehow, amongst the wreckage that is grief, there is Paula.

And her beauty and her poise throughout it all is something to behold.

I genuinely do not know where she finds the strength. But perhaps strength isn’t always about being brave or standing tall. Perhaps sometimes strength is simply continuing. Getting up. Putting one foot in front of the other. Continuing to love when the person you love is no longer physically there to hold.

Because that is what Paula does.

Paula lives to honour Karl.

In the way she speaks about him. In the way she remembers him. In the way she protects their memories. In every decision, every thought and every moment.

And there is something so incredibly beautiful about that.

Karl was Paula’s world.

And somehow, despite that world being shattered, she continues to carry him within it.

So yes, this golf day is about Karl. We will continue to honour him, say his name, tell his stories and make sure he is never forgotten.

But it is also about Paula.

It is about honouring their marriage. Their connection. Their extraordinary love for one another.

The circle remains complete.

It’s just smaller. ❤️

😂 I KNOW, I KNOW… I SAID IT WAS CLOSED!

But somehow, another fantastic donation has managed to sneak in at the last minute!

A huge thank you to Paul Bunney, who has kindly donated a Rage Room session for 4 people at The Rabbit Hole Rage Room in Swindon. 💥🔨

It’s a brilliant and slightly different prize — perfect for anyone who fancies letting off a bit of steam and smashing some stuff! 😂

Thank you Bunney for your very generous donation and support of the BMK Golf Day. ❤️

So, this really is the end of the prize posts now… 😂

Well… apart from Hole 18, which has been reserved for a very special person and will be revealed tomorrow. ❤️⛳️

NOW we’re done! 🤣

❤️ A LITTLE BMK GOLF DAY UPDATE ❤️

Today is Karl’s birthday. ❤️

And somehow, it feels very fitting that today is the day we draw a line under the incredible generosity we’ve received and turn our attention to Sunday — and making it the golf day of all golf days! ⛳️🏌️‍♂️

We have been completely inundated with people asking how they can support our day, and the response has honestly been quite unbelievable.

The auction prizes have just kept piling up! 😂 Every time we thought we had finished the list, another amazing donation came through. We’ve reached the point where keeping the auction list updated, creating thank-you posts and trying to keep track of everything has become almost a full-time job! 🤣

So, after a lot of thought, we have decided to close the auction donations now.

We genuinely cannot thank everyone enough for their generosity. We really don’t want to turn anyone away, but we now have an absolutely incredible collection of auction prizes and, at some point, we have to draw a line!

BUT… YOU CAN STILL SUPPORT US ❤️

We have set up a JustGiving page, and if you would still like to support what we are doing, a donation — big or small — would mean an enormous amount to us and will help us raise even more for Pennyhooks Farm Trust.

There is absolutely no pressure whatsoever. We are simply incredibly grateful that so many people have wanted to be part of this.

Today, on Karl’s birthday, we want to say a massive THANK YOU to every single person and business who has:

🩵 Donated an auction prize
🩵 Sponsored a hole
🩵 Donated money or prizes
🩵 Bought raffle tickets
🩵 Shared and tagged our posts
🩵 Offered help and support
🩵 Sent messages
🩵 Simply remembered Karl and supported our family

The generosity has been genuinely overwhelming.

We started this day wanting to do something special in Karl’s memory and raise some much-needed money for Pennyhooks Farm Trust.

What we have received in return has been so much more than we could ever have imagined.

So… the auction donations can stop, the thank-you posts can eventually slow down and now it’s time for the golf! 😂⛳️

Let’s make Sunday the golf day of all golf days.

Let’s celebrate Karl properly, bring everyone together, have an absolute belter of a day, make some bloody good memories and raise as much as we possibly can for an incredible cause.

It’s Karl’s birthday today. Sunday is going to be his day. 🩵

🌅 A VERY SPECIAL NEW PRIZE DONATION ❤️

Another fantastic donation has come in, and this one is a little different.

A huge thank you to Claire Purnell at Hannelore Life, who has kindly supported the BMK Golf Day and sponsored Hole 17. ❤️⛳️

Claire offers a really interesting range of services centred around coaching, mindset, wellbeing and personal transformation, including life, business and transformation coaching, NLP and growth mindset coaching, as well as clinical, deep tissue, remedial and therapeutic massage and manual lymphatic drainage.

I’ve included Claire’s card above so you can see the full range of services she offers and find out a little more about Hannelore Life.

It’s brilliant to have Claire supporting the day, and we really appreciate her generosity and willingness to get behind what we’re doing in Karl’s memory and for Pennyhooks Farm Trust.

Thank you Claire — and welcome to the BMK Golf Day family! 🩵⛳️

Hole Number 16 Sponsor

🏖️ ANOTHER FANTASTIC AUCTION PRIZE DONATION!

The prizes really just keep coming! ❤️

A huge thank you to Ian White, who has very kindly donated a 3-night stay in a static caravan at Doniford Bay once again this year.

Ian kindly donated the same prize last year and it went down an absolute storm, with Charlie Church being one very happy winner! 😂

Charlie thoroughly enjoyed the stay and has given it his personal seal of approval, so if you’re thinking about bidding on this one, you can be confident that it comes highly recommended! 🏖️🌊

A massive thank you to Ian for coming back and supporting the BMK Golf Day again this year. Your generosity, along with all the other incredible donations we’ve received, is helping us make Sunday a very special day in Karl’s memory and raise as much as possible for Pennyhooks Farm Trust.

Thank you Ian — absolutely brilliant support! ❤️🏌️‍♂️

⛳️ HOLE 16 — THE SHORT ONE THAT WILL RUIN YOUR DAY! 😂

Only 147 yards from the back tees… what could possibly go wrong? 🤔😂

It’s a par 3, so this should be a nice, straightforward little hole — one good swing, onto the green and two putts. Easy!

Except we all know how this works…

You’ll stand over the ball thinking “I’ve got this.”
Then you’ll either thin it, chunk it, pull it, push it or somehow put it on the wrong fairway! 😂

And because it’s only 147 yards, there really is nowhere to hide.

This is the sort of hole where someone will hit a beautiful shot, everyone will clap… and then someone else will hole a ridiculous one and spend the next six months telling everyone about it!

Good luck — and remember, it’s only a little par 3… apparently! 🏌️‍♂️😂⛳️

🎾 AUCTION PRIZE DONATION — Padel Nova

And the prizes just keep getting better! 🙌❤️

A massive thank you to the guys at Padel Nova — Swindon’s best Padel club 😉 — who have kindly donated an awesome Padel experience for 12–16 people.

The prize includes 3 courts for 90 minutes, balls and rackets, plus even a short coaching session to get everyone up to speed!

Whether you’re already a Padel addict or have absolutely no idea what you’re doing but fancy giving it a go, this is going to be a brilliant day out with a group of mates. 🎾😂

I’ve got a feeling this one is going to attract some seriously big bids in the auction! 💰

A huge thank you to Padel Nova for getting behind the BMK Golf Day and helping us raise as much as possible for Pennyhooks Farm Trust, all while remembering Karl. ❤️

Absolutely brilliant support — thank you! 🙏🎾

Thank you so much for the amazing support 🩵

⛳️ HOLE 15 — ASH GREEN

A huge thank you to Ash Green for kindly sponsoring Hole 15 at our BMK Golf Day. ❤️

Ash is an excellent golfer, all-round Wrag Barn superstar, former captain and a very familiar face to anyone who regularly frequents Wrag Barn.

If you need a bit of course management advice, Ash is definitely your man. He knows the course, knows the game and, most importantly, knows exactly where you shouldn’t be hitting it! 😂

We’re incredibly grateful for your support, Ash. It means a lot to us and will help us raise even more for Farm Trust, whilst remembering Karl and bringing everyone together for what is going to be one hell of a day.

Thank you Ash — legend! ❤️🏌️‍♂️

⛳️ HOLE 15 — THIS ONE HAS MONEY ON IT!

Now we’re getting serious… there’s money riding on Hole 15! 💰🏌️‍♂️

Not only is this the hardest hole on the course, but we’ve also got a Longest Drive prize up for grabs.

And there’s a catch…

It has to be on the fairway! 😂

So yes, you can absolutely smash the living daylights out of it — but if it finishes 40 yards into the trees, it doesn’t count! 🌳🤣

This could be the hole where reputations are made, wallets get opened and someone gets to walk away claiming they’ve always been the longest hitter in the group!

Good luck… and remember: distance is nothing without accuracy! ⛳️💰🏌️‍♂️

And the prizes just keep on rolling in! 🏌️‍♂️❤️

The support we are receiving for our very special BMK Golf Day is genuinely unbelievable, and we are so grateful to everyone who is getting behind us.

A huge thank you to Builders Ltd & Gavin Calthrop, who have kindly donated a fantastic 4 Ball at Bowood Golf Course in support of the day.

Stonewood are also my son’s employer Charlie Humphreys, which makes this donation feel even more special to our family. It means a lot to see the people and businesses around us getting behind what we are trying to achieve in Karl Humphreys memory and helping us raise as much as possible for Pennyhooks Farm Trust.

Thank you, Stonewood — your generosity is massively appreciated. 🩵⛳️

And to everyone else continuing to donate, sponsor, contribute and support us…

We honestly cannot thank you enough. The prize pot is getting ridiculous! 😂🏌️‍♂️
