I remember meeting this client for their very first session. When I went to greet E in the waiting room, I could see how anxious they were. Before we began, we took some time to practice breathing and had a glass of water.
As the sessions went on, E began to reframe thoughts, use strategies to manage panic attacks, and gradually feel calmer and more able to cope with anxiety. This progress came from the trust and connection we built together, as well as E’s openness and willingness to work with me. A very real pleasure to work with 🥹😀
Like many clients, E found it difficult to offer themselves the same kindness and understanding they so readily gave to others.
During the tougher days, I often reminded them that even a little progress is still progress and that change isn’t always a quick fix.
When I think about E’s first session and compare it with their last, I feel so many positive emotions. It’s a powerful reminder of how far someone can come, one step at a time 🤎🤎🤎
