Rehearsal rooms, recording facilities and music tuition are at the core of The Bunker’s services, providing a base and space to develop for bands and artists. We also work with a range of local venues and arts organisations to provide development opportunities and encourage cultural activity in Sunderland. Additionally, we deliver training, development and career guidance on a range of music/arts-

related topics to budding musicians and young people in Sunderland. We have a wide range of training courses and professional music tuition at a reasonable price, often discounted or free of charge, for those who qualify for financial support. Everyone is welcome, any age, any ability. We currently have students as young and 6 years old, all the way up to 80 years old. You’re never too young or old to start learning to play an instrument. We offer equipment hire and events management services, whether you’re a local band looking for some support at your gig, or you need a PA system for a small party, or even a full system for a live event, we can provide a solution.

We love seeing our young people grow! ❤️

We’re incredibly proud to see Vincent featured by Sunderland Culture as part of their Culture Start impact stories.

Vincent first came to The Bunker through our Home Education programme and is now one of our current music students. It’s been brilliant watching his confidence, musicianship and willingness to try new things develop along the way.

His story is a great example of what can happen when young people are given access to the right opportunities, equipment, encouragement and spaces to be themselves. It also shows why organisations across Sunderland working together to remove barriers to music and creativity is so important.

A huge well done to Vincent — keep making noise! 🎸🙌
