🕯️ Who will you be remembering this Wave of Light?

Behind every candle is someone loved. A baby whose arrival was so eagerly awaited. A child whose absence is felt every day. A lifetime of love that continues.

Ahead of the Wave of Light on 15th October, we have created a 4Louis Visufund page where our community can come together in remembrance.

Whether you are remembering your own baby or child, a grandchild, a sibling or someone close to you, you are welcome.

Visit our page, and please share it to help other families find this space. 💛

You don’t need to prepare what you’re going to say.

You don’t need to explain your grief.

You don’t even need to speak.

The Bereaved Dads’ Brotherhood is an informal online community for fathers following pregnancy, baby or child loss. It is a place to connect with other dads who understand that grief has no single shape or timeline.

Join us online:

You are welcome to talk, listen or quietly be part of the group.

Remembrance can take many different forms.

It might be lighting a candle, visiting a special place or speaking a baby’s or child’s name.

It might be planting flowers, listening to a meaningful song, looking through treasured keepsakes or doing something kind in their memory.

It may also be a thought held quietly during an ordinary day something nobody else sees or knows about.

Some families create traditions. Others find that what feels right changes from one year to the next. Some remember publicly, while others protect those moments and keep them private.

There is no checklist to complete and no right way to grieve.

However you remember, and even if you do not feel able to mark a particular date or occasion, the love you carry is no less meaningful.

If you feel comfortable, you are welcome to share something that helps you feel close to the baby or child you remember. There is no expectation to share publicly. 💛

💙 Awareness Should Lead to Care 💙

Throughout October, baby loss is spoken about more openly. Candles are lit, babies’ names are shared and families’ experiences are brought into view.

But awareness must lead to more than conversation. It should lead to compassionate, practical care for families when they need it most.

At 4Louis, we provide hospitals with resources that help families create memories, spend precious time with their baby and be treated with dignity following miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or the death of a child.

This includes:

💙 Memory boxes and keepsakes
💙 CuddleCots and CuddleBlankets
💙 Privacy Prams and Burial Beds
💙 Support for dedicated hospital bereavement rooms
💙 Resources for siblings and other family members

Everything we provide is free to families, optional and led by what feels right for them.

We are not counsellors, but our doors are always open for a coffee and a chat, and we can help families find further support when needed.

October may help shine a light on baby loss, but families need compassionate care every day of the year.

Awareness should be the beginning of action not the end of it. 💙

🕯️ A Light for Our Baby 🕯️

When I light a candle for Louis, it is never just a flame.

It is a quiet way of saying:

I remember you.
I miss you.
I love you.
You mattered.

As his mam, I do not need Baby Loss Awareness Month to remember him, he is part of every day and will always be part of our family. But this month creates a space where families can come together and remember their babies openly.

Grief can feel incredibly personal and isolating, but remembrance does not have to be lonely. When I see other candles glowing and other babies’ names being spoken, there is a quiet understanding between us. We may have different stories, but we recognise the love behind every light.

For every parent carrying a lifetime of love for a baby they cannot hold, we light a candle beside yours.

We remember our babies. We remember each other. We remember, together. 💙

Kirsty, Louis’ mam

💙 You Don’t Owe Your Story 💙

During Baby Loss Awareness Month, families may see more invitations to share their baby’s name, photograph or story. For some, sharing can bring comfort and connection. For others, those memories may feel too personal, painful or precious to place into public view.

You do not owe anyone the details of your loss.

You do not have to explain what happened, how you are feeling or why certain days are difficult. You do not have to take part in public remembrance to prove how deeply your baby is loved.

You may honour them through a candle nobody else sees, a private visit, a special song, a quiet thought or simply by carrying their love with you every day.

Silence does not mean forgetting. Privacy does not make your grief less valid.

If you choose to share, we will listen. If you choose not to, we are still holding space for you and your baby. 💙
