And that’s a wrap on another season of county team tennis! 👏

A fantastic finish for our Men’s 45s, who completed their season with two excellent 4–1 victories - against West of Scotland on 20th September and Lancashire yesterday. 💪

A special welcome to Patrick Howe, who joined the team this season. 👏

The Men’s 45s finish 2nd in Division 2, narrowly missing out on top spot on rubber count! 🥈 What a season!

Here’s the full season round-up:

🔵 Men’s 45s – 🥈 2nd, Division 2
🔵 Men’s 50s – 4th, Division 1
🔵 Men’s 55s – 4th, Division 1
🔵 Men’s 65s – 4th, Division 2

On the women’s side:

🟣 Women’s 40s – 6th, Division 3
🟣 Women’s 50s – Unable to complete the season due to injuries and illness
🟣 Women’s 60s – 🥈 2nd, Division 2, narrowly missing out on 1st on rubber count

It’s been a challenging season at times, particularly with injuries and illness, but there’s been plenty to be proud of across all our teams.

A huge thank you to every player who represented Durham & Cleveland this season, and to everyone involved behind the scenes. Your commitment, team spirit and support are hugely appreciated.

Congratulations to all our teams - and here’s to an even stronger season next year! 🏆🎾

What a day for our Durham & Cleveland girls at the County Cup! 💪

A fantastic first day of competition, with the team showing determination, resilience, teamwork and plenty of fighting spirit throughout every match.

Despite first match result not going our way 1-5 against Essex the girls battled hard to end day 1 2-2 against Cambridgeshire!

👏 There were some excellent performances across the team, with the girls competing hard, supporting each other and representing Durham & Cleveland with real pride.
The results are only part of the story — the way the team has stuck together, encouraged one another and battled for every point has been fantastic to see.

🎾 Day 1 complete.
💪 Time to recover.
🔥 Ready for Day 2!

Come on Durham & Cleveland!

🎾 𝙽𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕 𝙸𝚗𝚌𝚕𝚞𝚜𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚆𝚎𝚎𝚔 2026 🎾

Tennis is for everyone. 💛💙

This National Inclusion Week, we’re celebrating the role tennis can play in bringing people together, creating connections and making sure everyone feels welcome on and off the court.

Across Durham & Cleveland, we want our tennis community to be a place where people of all ages, abilities, backgrounds and experiences can get involved, enjoy the game and feel that they belong.

Inclusion doesn’t always mean making big changes. Sometimes it’s about the small things…listening to our communities, removing barriers, creating welcoming environments and making opportunities accessible to more people.

The LTA’s new Venue Inclusion Hub brings together practical resources and ideas to help clubs and venues on their inclusion journey, with guidance covering women and girls, disabled people, ethnically diverse communities and LGBTQ+ communities.

👉 Take a look and see how we can all help make tennis more inclusive:

Everyone belongs on court. Everyone has a place in tennis. 🎾

Lots of fantastic achievements as a team and as individuals. As always they took lessons from every up and down. This group are a credit to the county and each other!

- As a team they set our own expectations of each other.

- Held each other accountable

- When things didn’t go to plan bounced back as a team.

This togetherness will see this group continue to develop and achieve along the journey ahead of them as they grow as players and people.

With another exciting season of county training, competition and tennis ahead, we’d like to remind all our parents and carers about something really important…

⭐ SET THE STANDARD ⭐

The LTA’s ‘Set the Standard’ Fair Play campaign is designed to promote positive parent behaviour and support coaches, referees and organisers in creating the best possible competition experiences for young players.

The LTA has put together some fantastic resources to help parents and carers understand how best to support their child before, during and after competition.

So, what can you expect to find when you click the link? 👇

🎾 Understanding competition
Helpful information about what to expect when your child starts competing, how competitions work and how you can help them prepare.

👏 Supporting your child positively
Guidance on encouraging your child, helping them enjoy their tennis and supporting them without adding unnecessary pressure.

💬 Communication
Advice on communicating effectively with your child around competition and understanding when they may need encouragement, support or simply some space.

🧠 Managing emotions
Competition can bring plenty of highs and lows! The resources offer guidance on helping young players develop confidence, resilience and the skills to manage those emotions.

🏆 Fair Play & sportsmanship
Respect, honesty, good sportsmanship and following the rules are all fundamental to the game. Parents and carers play an important role in setting that example.

❤️ Keeping tennis enjoyable
Winning is fantastic, but so is developing confidence, making friends, building resilience and creating a lifelong love of tennis.

🛡️ Safeguarding
Important information to help everyone understand their role in creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for young players.

There are also free online parenting courses and workshops, alongside further resources to help parents support their child’s mental and emotional wellbeing through tennis.

💙💛 HERE AT D&C……

We would like 𝘼𝙇𝙇 parents and carers to familiarise themselves with the ‘Set the Standard’ guidance.

It is about making sure we all understand the role we play in creating a positive, respectful, safe and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in county tennis - our players, parents, coaches, officials, volunteers and staff.

By setting a positive example and supporting our young players in the right way, we can all help create the environment they deserve and ensure that Durham & Cleveland continues to be a county we can all be proud of.

And finally… 👀

🤖💙 Gaby’s little funky blue tack man has been appointed Chief Supervisor for the week!

He’ll be keeping a VERY close eye on proceedings and reporting directly back to the County Officials… including, apparently, monitoring this page for the next seven days. 😂

𝖢𝗈𝖺𝖼𝗁𝖾𝗌 & 𝖼𝗅𝗎𝖻𝗌- 𝖽𝗈𝗇’𝗍 𝖿𝗈𝗋𝗀𝖾𝗍 𝗍𝗈 𝗁𝗂𝗍 𝗍𝗁𝖺𝗍 ‘𝗌𝗁𝖺𝗋𝖾’ 𝖻𝗎𝗍𝗍𝗈𝗇

So everyone… do your thing, set the standard, support our players and continue to make D&C proud!
