We are Inclusionists!

What a brilliant afternoon at the Amphitheatre for Learning Disability Week.

Over 20 of our AutismAble members performed live music to a great crowd in South Shields, and they were absolutely fantastic.

A huge thank you to Tom and for organising such a lovely event and helping create a space where our members could perform and be celebrated.

📣 We are looking for Trustees and Directors to join The Inclusionists Board!

This is an opportunity to become part of our growing organisation at an exciting stage in our journey - helping shape strategy, champion inclusion and influence meaningful change across the North East and beyond.

Our board oversees and supports all initiatives within The Inclusionists, including AutismAble, Sea Change CIC, Future Collaborations, WEAR and Youth Hub.

We are looking for people who:
🔵 Believe in inclusion and opportunity
🔵 Want to create meaningful change
🔵 Bring lived experience, professional expertise or fresh thinking
🔵 Care about communities and people
🔵 Are collaborative, compassionate and ambitious

You do not need previous board experience to apply! We welcome applications from people with lived experience of neurodiversity and from individuals whose voices are often underrepresented in leadership and governance.

The passion, kindness and community spirit of people that make the Borough such a special place has been recognised at the Awards 2026.

Held at The Customs House last night (Thursday 4 June), the annual awards shine a spotlight on the Borough's everyday heroes - celebrating those who go above and beyond to support others, strengthen communities and inspire pride in the place.

📣 Exciting news! ..Our Sunderland sessions are starting very soon! 🎉

Beginners Employability starts Thursday 18th June
Advanced Employability + Media & Photography sessions begin this September

Each session is designed for ages 16+ and is funded through Direct Payments. If you don’t currently have Direct Payments, don't worry! We can guide you through the process and support you every step of the way 💙

We also offer FREE taster sessions so you can come along and see what we’re all about!

One week ago today, we officially launched The Inclusionists 🩷

What a special day it was!

Seeing so many families, professionals, supporters, partners and community members come together to celebrate inclusion, creativity and opportunity meant so much to us.

Thank you to everyone who came along, supported us, shared our story and helped make our launch so memorable. This is only the beginning, and we’re so excited for everything still to come.

Our launch event is this Friday! 💛

Here’s a little preview of what to expect throughout the day:

🟪 11:00 AM — Doors Open
Explore our activity stations, meet our staff, volunteers, and group members, and experience what it's like to be part of The Inclusionists.

🟦 11:30 AM–11:50 AM — Welcome Presentation
Join us for a short introduction to The Inclusionists - who we are, why we exist, and our vision for creating a more inclusive future for neurodiverse people across the North East and beyond.

🟩 11:50 AM–12:15 PM — Live Performances
Enjoy live performances from some of our incredible Future Collaborations groups and artists, including Corey and Garage Above.

🟨 12:15 PM–3:00 PM — Networking & Activity Time
Get involved in fun, interactive activities from across our initiatives! From cupcake decorating with Sea Change CIC and a Mario Kart competition with Youth Hub, to designing your own outfit with WEAR Sunderland - there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Drop in anytime or stay for the whole day, everyone is welcome!

We’re creating a movement focused on inclusion, opportunity and changing the way the world sees neurodiversity.

First up is ’s “Design Your Own Support World” activity.

A creative space to explore what inclusion, confidence, independence and support looks like to you - because we believe every neurodiverse person deserves environments where they feel safe, understood and empowered to thrive.
