We have donated over £2 million since 2015 to charities across the UK, supporting the communities in which we work.

At the Hays Travel Foundation, we're proud to support projects that help children and young people with learning disabilities and additional needs access new opportunities, build confidence and develop valuable life skills. 🌟

This Learning Disability Week, we're highlighting just a few of the incredible projects we're currently supporting:

🏀 Refreshing Minds – A Sporting Chance!
Supporting 30 girls with learning disabilities and neurodivergence through adapted sports sessions, helping them build confidence, coordination and social skills.

⛵ All Aboard Watersports – School Games 2026
Providing over 120 young people with SEND and additional needs the opportunity to experience sailing, rowing and katakanu while developing confidence, teamwork and independence.

💙 Hays Travel Foundation Helps Provide Breakfast Club for Families in Colne 🧡

The Open Door Centre supports families across Colne and the wider Pendle area, helping those facing challenges such as poverty, food insecurity and poor mental wellbeing.

With support from the Hays Travel Foundation, the charity launched the Hays Travel Breakfast Club, providing children with a free, nutritious breakfast before school while offering parents and carers access to practical and emotional support. 🌟

In the first six months, the project has:
✔️ Supported over 75 families
✔️ Provided 1,981 free breakfasts
✔️ Welcomed an average of 19–23 children per session
✔️ Delivered support with housing, finances, wellbeing, benefits and crisis assistance

The project has helped children start the school day in a positive environment, while families have benefited from trusted support, reduced isolation and improved stability.

We’re proud to support initiatives like this that help children and families access the support they need to thrive. 👏

With support from the Hays Travel Foundation, YMCA Norfolk delivered a programme supporting homeless young people to build confidence, skills and wellbeing.

✔️ Supported 65 young people living in supported housing
✔️ Delivered 103 activity sessions including life skills, arts and sports
✔️ Introduced mental health and wellbeing sessions
✔️ Supported young people through one-to-one coaching and ASDAN awards

💙 Hays Travel Foundation Supports Via Wings 🧡

Via Wings delivers the Empowering Children programme, supporting disadvantaged and marginalised children aged 11–14 who are experiencing emotional and mental health challenges. Through mindfulness, creative activities and therapeutic techniques, young people build confidence, resilience and self-worth. 🌟

With support from the Hays Travel Foundation, Via Wings is currently delivering four groups, supporting 24 children through 12 sessions.

The programme is already achieving fantastic outcomes:
✔️ All 24 participants report improved mental wellbeing
✔️ 22 children report increased confidence and self-esteem
✔️ 22 children feel a stronger sense of belonging and improved peer connections
✔️ 20 children demonstrate greater emotional resilience

We’re proud to support projects like this that help children develop confidence, positive coping strategies and the skills they need to thrive. 👏💙

⚓💙 Hays Travel Foundation Supports Blyth Tall Ship 💙⚓

Blyth Tall Ship works to reconnect the town of Blyth with its shipbuilding and seafaring heritage through education, heritage skills training, community engagement and maritime experiences. 🌊

With support from the Hays Travel Foundation, the organisation delivered the Young Mariners programme, giving young people the opportunity to take part in hands-on learning experiences designed to build practical skills, confidence and teamwork.

Participants engaged in activities including heritage crafts, woodworking and maritime training, while developing skills in map reading, basic navigation principles, maritime charts, knot tying and rope work. ⚓🪵

The programme has already had a positive impact, with one young person sharing:

🗨️ “I’ve really enjoyed my work experience at Blyth Tall Ship. I gained an appreciation for craftsmanship, teamwork, and the stories embedded in each boat. I made a wooden phone holder which allowed me to practice my hand skills, and I’m considering volunteering here in the future.”
